  1. 2-0 up 3 mins left. We can still win this!
  2. That's a fair question Lenziejag, and I have no expertise that would allow me to make credible suggestions for change. However those on the bench last night are not the only options as you suggest. Also he has the summer to improve the squad and time for those curently injured to recover, both of which would allow a change in tactics.
  3. Watched the game on TV last night so only saw what the BBC showed i.e. a fairly narrow view of the play. That said, we have become far too predictable as many others here have said. With the better teams able to nullify our wing play, Graham is effectively isolated. The best chances last night came from quick (forward) passes in the centre of the pitch. I'm sure Morton will have learned from last night if they didn't already know, and Saturday could be a difficult game to win. Even if we make the play-offs, the chances of promotion are probably equal to the square root of bugger all, and so perhaps the time has come for Doolan to show some initiative and change the tactics, probably in preparation for next season. That means jettisoning some stalwarts and strengthening the mddle of the pitch from the defence to midfield to broaden our attacking options. If that involves risk so be it: Doolan should now play the long game and prepare for next season. How he does that will be a good measure of his managerial abilities.
  4. Given that the defensive set up is at the heart of our problems, would it not be possible for Doolan to get some advice and help from an experienced retired manager/player. I agree with those arguing that it is too soon to judge him, but the man is inexperienced and needs help.
  5. We have as many passengers as the Jeannie Deans had!
  6. Shocking defending - on a par with the refereeing. Floodlight robbery. Defence a disgrace and I can understand why Doolan stuck with Snedden for so long.
  7. That's a disgrace - no reason for change of decision. That's 2 good goals chalked off!
  8. As far as the result on Friday is concerned, we need to be clear on whether the new Thistle funding model will have any bearing on the result. Has the debate on here and within the Club affected players' performance in any way, and if so what funding remedies are available?
  9. This thread does nothing for the cause of fan ownership.
  10. What a confidence booster! Comes too at a time when Raith lose to a late goal. No dancing in the streets of Raith tonight!
  11. For ****'s sake just stop this stupid shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Could this tiresome, pointless and seemingly endless discussion be conducted via private messages please.
  13. Maybe the transfer window should be more about freeing up wages in loans or moves, than new faces. That would make Doolan take decisions and concentrate minds. We have a super abundance of slow midfielders with the result that every attack goes through Lawless or Fitzpatrick, and most managers are aware of that. The team is unbalanced. Sneddon has his faults but he is often hindered by slow-witted outfield players. Any blame lies elsewhere. Team looked really slow last night, both in movement and reaction times, and that was the greatest difference between the teams. Not sure that a defensive coach is the answer. As others have said we could do with a big, dirty central defender with a nippy central midfielder lying off him to create quick movement up the centre of the park. All these points have been made many times, and I struggle to understand why Doolan persists with some players who reinforce the team's evident weaknesses.
  14. I watched the game last night on TV so given the poor coverage (camera regularly missing the ball and wide angles used that made spotting the ball difficult), my comments might be wide of the mark. They had the advantage of that plastic surface on a very wet night, and were effectively given a two goal start, so the result was not disastrous. However it seemed that we have no dominant central defender who is marshalling the troops and controlling things: Graham is fine as captain, but he cannot be everwhere. We either need a defence coach or to recruit a big, nasty central defender. I don't think Sneddon has the ability to marshall the defence as some keepers do. Perhaps too Sneddon's inconsistency is affecting the defence's confidence, not something that is easily sorted without changing the goalie. I agree with those who say Raith were the better side - they seemed better orgainsed and were more consistent throughout the team. We are still comfortably? in third place and all was not lost last night. The failings seem apparent to most and can therefore be addresssed.
  15. VAR takes the pressure off refs to make good, tough decisions. They can make "safe" decisions, knowing that someone else will carry the can. VAR should be abandoned and refs told that their career will depend on the quality of their decisions. In other words they should take full responsibilty for the job they were employed to do.
  16. Who exactly did the negotiating with McClymont prior to TJF being informed? What has McClymont done in the past to show his allegiance to PTFC? What are his motives? The £2m threshold for triggering McClymont's loan repayment may seem high, but it could be engineered by another loan and not simply by trading. That other loan could have fewer (or more) restrictions and cause a severe problem if repayment was demanded, i.e triggerering repayment of the McClymont loan. In this circumstance and in the event of the winding up of PTFC, the preference shares owned by McClymont would presumably have first call on the Club's assets, hence the clause preventing the Board shielding the assets behind newly formed companies. The cumbersome and slow fan consultation process outlined lends itself to another episode like this, where we are railroaded into accepting another apparently soft loan. This has to be addressed very specifically. Could someone please explain the voting arrangements on the Board vis a vis TJF and the other Trusts? Are votes counted by hands or shares? Are the McClymont redeemable preference shares voting shares or not?
  17. WJ, what percentage of the voting shares do these 3 investers own?
  18. Just a sudden thought. By what mechanism do they withdraw their cash in the event of a disagreement at board level on whether the cash flow/Club finances could withstand a withdrawal/exit? They have no votes on the Board I believe.
  19. I think I am right in saying that the US investors have been given preference shares. These normally do not carry voting rights, but have first call on dividends or any assets following the winding up of a business. Since the likelihood of PTFC declaring a dividend is equal to the square root of bugger all, I wonder what their motives are?
  20. Bingo Harrywragg! A large Red Herring flag proudly flying over Firhill will remind us all of the sheer stupidity of this sorry episode.
  21. I, like most people I suspect, have no idea what is going on. However true fan ownership means having control over all the Club's decisions. That cannot happen if fans' share ownership falls below 25% of voting (ordinary) shares, since minority shareholders can then veto crucial decisions.
