  1. Do clubs actually benefit much financially from the play-offs? I seem to recall something about the gate money being split between the clubs and the SPFL. I do realise that the prize money is greater the higher up we finish.
  2. All the usual posters reappearing I see. "Thistle are rubbish, the manager's rubbish, the board are rubbish and the team is rubbish and all we need to do is go back to the old ways when life was so much better." The thing is we are where we are. We have no money to sack the manager and bring in someone else. Doolan got the job because he was already on the payroll and was all we could afford. Our signings were done late because we were in the playoffs and couldn't afford to gamble on getting promoted. The board is in a period of transition due to changes enforced by people playing petty power games with our club. We are a fan owned club due to the fact that no-one wanted to invest in the 3rd/4th financially attractive club in Glasgow and the shareholders at the time were desperate to divest themselves of their responsibilty for a football club. For me this season's goal should realistically be staying in this division. Being third, at this stage, is shooting above our level as we need this season to build for promotion next season or the one following. To do that the defence needs sorted out but we're not going to do that by dropping everyone and anyone as we have no-one to replace them. So by all means come on and moan about losing games and offer opinions about the solutions (that's what fans do) but we are in danger of just rehashing old conflicts over whose pals are best to run PTFC.
  3. Surely the "level" of fitness attained is down to the player and not the coach. Or do you think someone coaching women would not be capable of coaching men?
  4. I've not playerd football above a free-for-all level at school so am no expert on behind the scenes but do teams train as defensive units or are the goalkeepers and back line treated as seperate?
  5. Guess that's the financial situation we're in.
  6. For me the one thing that stood out as much as our defensive shortcomings was the lack of fitness in the team. Dunfermline were much sharper and quicker. We seem to have no desire to get forward quickly or to track back to defend. Our main tactict is to slow games down as much as possible and hope the opposition just switch off.
  7. So how would we have persuaded them to stay? Offer premiership wages?
  8. Sad to hear of another Jags fan away. In case anyone wishes to join in applause. https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-news/john-livingstone/
  9. So why didn't you? How many times does WJ need to answer this before you are going to accept the answer?
  10. Here you go. Clean as a whistle. https://cms.scottishfa.co.uk/scottish-cup/scottish-gas-mens-scottish-cup/goal-of-the-round-vote/
  11. A lot of the tenements on Maryhill Road were demolished to accomodate a motorway to Loch Lomond which was then scrapped. The city fathers, through the 50s , had plans to replace all of Glasgow's tenements with new concrete boxes. These plans were changed following the storm of January '68 when there was so much damage done and no money for new building. That sparked an interest in refurbishing the tenements and the rise of local housing associations.
  12. Not much about Thistle in it but some footage of Maryhill Juniors and loads of pubs which are no longer there.
  13. It's beginning to look as though some people just don't like women or youngsters playing football!

  15. Oops! How did a diddy team get to the final?
  16. Wasn't that the money that bought the shares to be gifted to the fans' trust? Then there's management costs.
  17. It's a cup game and Brian's "other team" have a big game the next day. So, who knows? Not even on the bus?
  18. So you seem to be saying that if this was money put in by an individual shareholder it would be a good thing but because it is money put in by a collection of fan owners it is not.
  19. Because we couldn't afford to replace them like for like or with better. And that's the point you continue to refuse to see.
