lady-isobel-barnett
A copy and paste job for me with the three central figures. George Niven at the back. No 27 Gordon Whitelaw???. No idea the other guy in the tracky. Â Perhaps the players are extra happy looking as we were then top of the league? Don't mind Niven being out injured back then, tho. Winter of '63
A copy and paste job for me with the three central figures. George Niven at the back. No 27 Gordon Whitelaw???. No idea the other guy in the tracky. Â Perhaps the players are extra happy looking as we were then top of the league? Don't mind Niven being out injured back then, tho. Â I think George Niven fractured his wrist in the New Year Derby against Clyde immediately before the Big Freeze but didn't actually miss a game because he had recovered by the time the next game was played at the beginning of March. Sean Welsh and Gary Fraser should have been around then - they would have more time to recover from injury without missing games.
a f kincaid
W of 63 Â George Niven did, in fact, miss a Scottish Cup tie v Morton on 4th Feb - the only game played between his breaking his wrist (1/1/1963 v Clyde) and returning on 2/3/1963 (v St Mirren). Â "He never missed a game" seems to have crept into PT folklore but it should actually be "He never missed a league game".
stuthejag
Think it must be a series of pictures from early 1963 (Gordon Whitelaw was swapped in August 1963 from Ronnie Hume, he ended up at St Johnstone and scored a screamer in the Santiago Bernabéu for them)

Jaggernaut
Cross country sking at Firhill  That picture brings back great memories of the old north terracing. Even though the roof only went down about a third of the way there could be a great atmosphere there. The north stand is continuing that tradition.  ETA: Easy to spot the hatches to the bookies' dookits for the greyhound racing.
