As in the holiday advert, I shouldn’t really be here and nor should this posting, but what the Hell… Most people who know me are aware of my earlier allegiance, but hopefully few would question my commitment to The Jags for over fifty years. Amidst the footage of the Jags in Sweden and early 70's domestic games, I found the short clip I took on a visit my Father and I made to Cathkin. It was less than five years after the Club died and a painful sight to see. Younger Jags fans might be surprised at the size of the ground, older ones at the very familiar shape of the Cathkin Shed! My first ever post!! Life long jags fan from The 'Round Toll' area for those who remember this part of Glasgow 1.5 miles from the 'Hallowed Ground'. Now living way north of Aberdeen. Haven't see jags since the recent 1-1 Arbroath game and last visit to Firhill was the Ross Co 2-4 game! Intended travelling to every home game this season but found the Caldwell era totally depressing. Didn't go to today's game but kept an eye on score and forum comments while painting a ceiling (opted to do this instead of driving down to Dundee) !! Total shock when I checked final result. Reverting to plan A feel Manager and team (who seem now to be playing for the Jersey which is all I have ever asked of a Thistle team) deserve support. See you all at Firhill next Saturday

A wonderful day to be a Jags fan, and a great bus trip home tonight for the travelling support. That was an important one today, that will help with self belief, momentum and will put that bit of gallus swagger into our play that we so need. When did a Thistle player last have 2 good games in a row ? He should be dropped as by the law of averages he is going to have a stinker. The other law to consider is that Thistle performance is inversely related to fans expectations on this forum. Based on the above comments, a draw is a good call

I like your second team (ie the one lower down), though I would probably put in Robson for Cardle. Archie did mention doubt over Zanatta, which could let Cardle back in. Another option would be to recall Palmer and go for 4-3-3 with Bannigan, Cole and Palmer in midfield and Robson and Kakay supporting Miller up front.

C'mon, Jim. It's clear that the leak came from the selling side. It paved the way for the removal of the board. Did anyone really expect the 'other side' to disappear without putting up some kind of a fight? It's been a pretty unedifying spectacle all-round. Let's hope it's finally coming to an end, one way or another.

I genuinely have never met, or seen a post from, a single Thistle fan that does not credit McNamara for assembling a great team. I honestly think on that, we are all in agreement (I 'm happy to be corrected). Many criticise McNamara on the timing of his departure and many more on his actions (specifically in term of expecting a bonus) after his departure. Many more (including me) are of the opinion that his tactical ability was not sufficient to obtain promotion. This is based on our absolutely dire away record that season at the point of his departure (I was at most of these games and we were truly awful in many of them- 1 goal scored in total away to Airdrie, Hamilton, Dumbarton and Falkirk in a very short space of time). I think the "away only" form table at the date of his departure had us second bottom. This clearly was not going to win us promotion when only one spot was available. But everyone agrees, I think, that the group of players he assembled was great.

If only his ability matched the size of his ego.
