  1. When I'm in Scotland and Thistle are away from home I try to take in Darvel games. The WOSFL is a much higher standard than I ever imagined and Darvel stand out in it. Every week they play as they did last night. They would give many Championship teams a game. They are a friendly club in a friendly town, and I was very pleased to be there last night. Aberdeen were pretty poor
  2. Two full hours of utter utter shit. We are a poor side. I love penalties
  3. I was at that match. I'm a Crusaders season ticket holder. Though this season I've nearly seen more Thistle matches. You should see Seaview today, unrecognisable. Proper toilets and running water. The last twenty years are a great example of how a club can be turned round.
  4. Not a great game. We've played better and lost. Looked like a decent crowd but atmosphere seemed a bit flat. I still left with a smile on my face.
  5. Good performance tonight, and should have scored more. Fitzpatrick is red hot, and whatever role Turner is playing it works. I left at 5-1 to try and get home for a few pints, and wondered what the cheer was for.(red card) Not to take anything away from us tonight, but they're woeful. I'm heading home next week and will miss the Queen's game. I've seen them do us twice this season and would love to get some revenge. There's a lot more to life than football, but the last couple of weeks have lifted my mood. I hope you all enjoy your break.
  6. A well deserved slapped wrist, taken in the spirit it was meant.
  7. Cracking game. We owned the first nine minutes and then conceded. I thought here we go. Real character showed through. A few weeks ago we'd have lost that. Fitzpatrick was excellent. (Milne will go in the January window. Better teams than us must be looking at him.) Disappointing crowd.
  8. Had a score today at 8/1 with Ladbrokes to win title. Better odds available for those who bet on line. Working on the theory improvements off the pitch will translate to improvements on the pitch. The next two games (which I hope to attend) will give good guidance. Long way to go yet.
  9. I hope you're feeling better Phil. Is the site reopening? I need a new hoodie.
  10. Despite my reservations about fan ownership, I've decided to get off the fence. Just joined TJF. Over the last few months I've bought no merchandise for myself or my grandson. Started paying concession rate rather than full price (which I viewed as a donation). Stopped buying 50/50 tickets, and no longer indulge in a pie etc. In the absence of an agreed strategy I don't know whether this is the best action or not. I can't help feeling nothing will change until 1000 fans are stood in the car park refusing to enter.
  11. That's a really brittle team. At halftime all I wanted was the final whistle.
  12. Sorry I went to that. Poor poor performance. Two hidings in four days I've witnessed. Thankfully Raith's beyond me nowadays.
  13. Absolutely right. The whole mood of the game changes. Their heads are down, Ours are up. Once they got out of jail they took full advantage. That's twice I've seen them this season, and they're a very tidy team.
  14. All that was missing was " the big boys made me do it"
  15. We really should have put them to the sword as per ICT. It's great to have such a strong bench. So many options. Our first visit to the JL stand and it may be our new home. Grandson loved it. I'm off home now, next match October.
  16. I haven't joined TJF. I'm undecided about fan ownership for PTFC. However I'm unhappy with the current attitude from within my club. Not for the first time of course. I'm only here for another two home games before I go home for a month or two. Do I turn up on Friday? Do I boycott? Will there be any action other than on here? (this is a serious question, not a slight)
  17. That was such a winnable game. Poor poor defending. I was much taken by the resigned acceptance of the fans around me.
  18. Tuffey pulled of a cracking save for the Crues last week in a European match at Seaview. Got right down on his line to a header which would have ended the tie if it had gone in. He also played a big part in our Cup win in May. Made a few great saves and went up to head on a corner which we equalised from in injury time. (highlights make wonderful viewing on u tube) He has a coaching job at Seaview with youth/ladies teams at the moment. N I football has come on a lot in the last few seasons. We will have four full time teams this coming season. I would estimate our top level would be mid to bottom championship. The Challenge Cup isn't a great guide as even we send weakened teams.
  19. I'm in for £20 (I win these things)
  20. I don't know whether that pitch is worse wet or dry. Poor game.
  21. I haven't signed up to TJF yet. I'm not really in favour of fan ownership for Thistle. This flies in the face of what is happening with Crusaders in NI. It is a member(fans) owned club at the moment. At an EGM last week it was voted to sell 70% of our club to an "altruistic" company. Out of 510 members 36 voted no. I was one. This will get us an investment and opportunities to source new income streams. The board (mostly volunteers) who have run our club for the past 20 years have done a brilliant job. We were a basket case. In 20 years it's been unprecedented success on the park, and a ground to be proud of off it. I felt a little disloyal voting against the boards strong recommendation. The point I'm labouring over here, is that in my opinion it's horses for courses. For me it's Starmer's smell test. This doesn't smell right for Thistle as selling didn't smell right for the hatchetmen. I don't believe Thistle have the supporter base or volunteer skills to take this forward. I don't think the time is right. I accept my knowledge of the folk on the TJF board is nil. Tomorrow night it's a cup semi at Windsor Park. 11.30 boat to Cairnryan and then Scottish grandson no 2's first visit to Firhill.
  22. Dreadful first half. Queens are very poor. Great three points. Keeps us hanging in there. Definitely going home this Friday.
  23. Glad I didn't go home last week. I enjoyed that despite the pitch and a ball filled with helium. Let's see how today's games go.
