This bit is abject nonsense I'm afraid. Edwards was on a tightrope & lucky not to pick up his 2nd yellow for a blatant body check just before he went off*. County dominated midfield for the majority of the 2nd half when they went to a flat 4 to combat our narrow diamond. It was only when Spittal & Storey (who I admit was poor) came on to give us the midfield 5 that we regained a measure of control. That's why we put them under more pressure in that final 10 minutes than we had for the previous 35. Could it have been earlier? Perhaps. Should it have been Sammon rather than Doolan? Again, perhaps. But to suggest that Spittal coming on handed the midfield to County is the exact opposite of what happened. Edwards lost the plot after being wiped out on the touchline, can't remember who by. No booking for the County player naturally. He then decided to take the law into his own hands & was lucky not to get sent off.

Couldn't make the game today, working last night & tonight. From what I saw though, I thought McInnes paid us a huge complement by doing to us exactly what we've been doing to other teams for the past 4 or 5 weeks. 5 across the middle of the park, difficult to break down & looking to feed off what you can going forward. They did it better than us on the day. They're the 2nd best team in the league & I reckon there are only 2 of our current squad that would get in to that Aberdeen side & improve it (Cerny & Osman). That's just the harsh reality of Football.

Fair enough, I don't get to enough away games to notice. However, with winters getting wetter, and by all accounts summers too (ask your local cricket club how many fixtures they've had waterlogged over the past few years), I think it's inevitable that synthetic surfaces are going to become the norm rather than the exception.

United treated yesterday as the biggest game ever. Cup Final nonsense was dragged out, must win, vital etc. That's all very well for a one off game but there's no way they can maintain that level of intensity for 15 more games. Normal service next week please.

This was Edwards' first introduction to Scottish Premiership Football where the shove in the back is a legitimate tactic for winning any ball. It must have come as a bit of a culture shock TBH. Starting him on the left was a mistake, but the only "fix" that could really have been made before half-time was to swap him and Amoo. Alas, Amoo seems utterly incapable of playing on the left on his wrong foot. He has no idea what to do - the cross for the goal aside of course I was one of the many who groaned when he cut back onto his right. Instead, he (Edwards) was moved inside and Lawless came left. As noted above, Lawless does his best work in the centre of the 3. I reckon that weakened both positions. We definitely missed Abdul in midfield & I reckon he'd have been the one picking up many of those desperate clearances in the 2nd half. Anyway, bring on the Hertz.

As far as I can tell, our 2 recent victories have come with a switch to a right footed player playing on the right of the front 3, and a left footed player playing on the left - Amoo and Bannigan. I don't know whether it was tactical or through necessity, but I think we'll be reluctant to go back to those wide players preferring to cut in on the opposite foot for a couple of games yet.

I tried out Curling on Friday evening at Braehead. It was actually really enjoyable. The ice isn't that slippery due to the dry conditions, that was quite surprising if I'm honest. Mind you, I wouldn't try running on it. Before it, I was at the Handmade Burger Co where I had a superb Moroccan Lamb Burger washed down with a glass or two of Chilean Merlot. I figured Curling would be the same as Darts or Pool, improved markedly by relaxed muscles.

John Salako was my go to guy. Crystal Palace were usually quite easy to deal with. The way he cut in from the left and lobbed the keeper from the edge of the box - about 3 times per game - was a thing of beauty.

Not pedantic at all, and thanks for the info. You learn something every day. So does that mean that a French commentator, working on a French game, has to call Les Blues France? Or Allemagne Germany? I suspect not.
