  1. Is there anything in the constitution to allow the SFA to become involved in this omnishambles?
  2. I'm a glass half full person by nature, but the overall outlook for the game, in Scotland particularly, is less than promising. Trying hard to think of a scenario/format that would work but genuinely struggling.
  3. That's right, but according to this Wiki article, WoSRUFC derived the colours from Partick FC. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partick_F.C.
  4. That's always been my understanding too, and it is true; however, according to the link I put up, West of Scotland RUFC derived the red & yellow themselves from Partick FC. Therefore, we indirectly acquired our famous hoops from our erstwhile Partick neighbours, apparently.
  5. And there WAS a Partick Violet, as I recently suggested (from a very cloudy memory...not contemporaneous, obviously), AND a Partick Ramblers. Christ! http://glasgowpunter.blogspot.com/2012/11/promotion-run-jog-around-partick.html?m=1
  6. So, it turns out our immortal Red'n'Yella was indirectly lifted from the 'FC'!
  7. One team in Partick, there's only one team in Partick. One team in Paaartick, there's only one team in Partick.
  8. I've been a fierce critic of his, but this is a different thing altogether. I hope he pulls through and recovers to full health.
  9. That's because Caldwell was a b@wbag.
  10. ... he's a Partick Thistle man, he's better than Zidane, we've got super Ian McCall.
  11. He's indestructible... Yessss!
  12. Better no be postponed. I've just landed, having taken a punt on the weather. Mon Thistle. Intaerrum.
  13. I started going in the 1965/66 season, so I got to see Davie McParland playing many times. I also saw most games where he managed us, and yes, that includes The game. I am not able to cite another individual during my time of being a Jag who encapsulates the Thistle 'thing' or spirit or whatever that indescribable, intangible element or ingredient is more than Mr McParland did/does. I can't say any more than that about him. He is more than anything or anybody else the reason why I am a Partick Thistle supporter.
  14. I'm not keen on the tenor of your question. However, I might reed it differently when I've given it more thought. Will J Low be the mouthpiece for Colin Weir?
  15. I've stayed out of this debate as, to be honest, I didn't (and still don't ) understand the intricacies and complexities involved in a venture of this sort. I suspect I'm not alone in that. Now, though, it appears we're reaching the culmination of several months of noise and silence, in equal measure, associated with the process; and it seems that a sort of peace is breaking out. Whether the final deal, in terms of full fan ownership or an approximate model, will prove to be the holy grail we've been grasping at for over 30 years now, and delivers a long lasting sustainable club, remains to be seen. But, as a restless fan myself, burdened with worries and fears over the long term future of Thistle, I feel a sense of relief and at least part closure now to this long running saga. I'll never know whether the consortium that planned to take over the club would've been the better, or best, option for us; I'll never know what their goal was, but the Colin Weir-led takeover, as now announced, does enthuse me. I'm rambling on now, but I do genuinely feel significant relief that we appear to have taken a very healthy step into the future for the wellbeing of the PTFC. Proud to be a Jag.
  16. Thistle - The oldest continuously professional football club currently playing in Glasgow. Nah, that disnae work.
  17. The greatest fitbaw event of literally all time, bar absolutely none! WAT.
  18. No worries about this one. Stenny will be putty in our hands.
  19. And the Arbroath game was the featured game on Sportscene that night, if I remember correctly. With the game at home to East Fife a few weeks earlier having been covered too, this was the first time (in my memory) that two non-top flight games had been broadcast in the same season.
  20. You're on the money there, Sandy. I've not been there for a few years now, but my visits to the hunnish side of Tannadice Road in the 70s and 80s left me very despondent: not at Thistle's displays but at the belting out of Ra Sash and other assorted pre-human attempts at 'singing' by the indigenous population. Grim in the extreme.
