  1. Not been engaging with anything ptfc for a long time but been reading over this for last few days. Just wanted to say youse have been doing amazing fighting the good fight , that the current powers that be seem to be wrong sorts , and I hope that youse manage to prevail. It is clear youse have the got massive legitmacy , organization and skills base so I guess that stands to reason why ptfc board in current guise would go with such a farcical decision ! Is it something that goes with the office at firhill regardless of who happens to be on the board ? Very strange...
  2. after the end of the nfl season I've been looking for something new to get my fix of late night sports happening. major league baseball season starts in April. decided to pick the cubs as my team as formed in 1876 known as the lovable losers haven't won a world series since 1908. familiar territory for a jags pedigree person. anybody like baseball?
  3. next question would be where people stand on the osullivan / hendry debate ?
  4. it's crass to say the least to knock back ten grand when that's a shit load of money for most people. on the other hand the amount of money professional snooker players get in relation to other sports professionals is pitiful given the much higher skill and tactical level of snooker has vis a vis other sports. Obviously it's not relative skill levels within and between sports that determines what money can be earned by a professional. it would be good however to see snooker get the respect it deserves in relation to other sports.
  5. the bit i quoted lol
  6. Not to mention that subsidy isn't a dirty word when it comes to preserving farmers way of live. Only that would be the way of a landowner - but yeah no such thing as class or class loyalties apparently !!
  7. What's that supposed to mean?
  8. It's hard to get inspired by supporting a football team in a league where there is no chance of winning anything..
  9. aye work the next day was horrible
  10. dizzy would prefer it if the NFL played the long game in developing gridiron here by investing in the grassroots, but i am looking forward to seeing a proper regular season game at wembley
  11. got nfl gamepass and with a vpn service im able to watch all games of the NFL which is nice. Going to watch the raiders and dolphins games reruns over the next couple of days as i have tickets to the wembley game which i am looking forward to. the hawks were immense against the packers, russell looks very composed, not one pass thrown in shermans direction, percy harvin very versitle, and marshawn lynch clocking up the yards, defense kept eddie lacey in check too - good alround performance. we are looking good despite a lot of the chat of the 9ers imploding they have looked very able against the cowboys tonight.
  12. Well to be fair, i havent hidden my politics on this thread or elsewhere. but thats really not what the independance debate is about (for most people) - so i won't derail this thread any further into a discussion of the merits of an economy predicated on the explotation of people versus an economy designed to suit peoples wants and needs. going back to independance,, i think a lot of people can be social democratic and think that independance would be a useful part of realising that vision and im sure that people can be fans of old hayek and think independance would be a useful part of realising that vision. if independance happens, political debate will be very interesting across scotland, thats one thing we can be pretty sure about.

Since the fans are the the progenitors of our culture there is no danger of them misrepresenting themselves. If a dominant tenancy is to have a certain sets of attitudes then this will become to be identified as being a 'thistle' trait. Many support bases hold a lot of contradictory changeable and contested opinions amongst them. It is a sign of a healthy large support. Trying to reduce a football trait to one singular ahistorical essence is the hallmarks of a narrow-minded provincial standpoint- in short a wee team mentality that isn't big enough to accept flux and diversity within its ranks. Thankfully it appears that you are in a minority here so there is a chance of us transforming away from being a wee cuddly toy ineffectual team at some point that can thankfully aspire towards that Ferrari metaphor that you were outling earlier.
