  1. Aye, it was a two year deal and this is the second year. I wonder if we've got anything lined up? Considering how well we've done this year, it would be good to get a sponsor with a similar media impact to Kingsford and keep the momentum going. Now we're an established SPL club the cash received should be pretty decent too.

  3. I think considering the previous tone of the Weirs' investment, there will almost certainly be a strong element of community involvement.
  4. Regarding the current players on contracts, it'll be interesting to see what (if any) effect the new training facility has on contract negotiations. For players in their early/mid 20s with us, the prospect of a decent contract plus specialised facilities could be enough to sway them into staying. That provides us with season to season continuity that is invaluable. Considering the age Kenny Miller is, it would be nice to think that the new facilities could be used to prolong and enhance the careers of Cerny, Erskine and Dools....
  5. Weirdly enough, Tommy Stewart our distinctly unlegendary 'striker' seems to have quite a reputation elsewhere (not the huge signing on fee bit - further down the page https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/feb/22/what-is-the-biggest-fee-earned-from-a-football-sell-on-clause
  6. Add in Albert Craig for Budinaukas up at Ross County - the snowy Quintin Jacobs game
  7. One of my favourite bits from yesterday was Lawless ushering the ball out for a goal kick by bullying their number 23 - despite being 6 inches shorter and about 3 stone lighter! 3 points yesterday was the perfect 50th birthday pressie from the Jags to me and (despite what those fuds on Sportscene think) I think St Johnstone and Hearts are catchable if we keep playing the way we are at the moment. Onwards and very much upwards.....
  8. Hearts clearly weren't up for it last night as they had one eye on Saturday  So anyway, a repeat of 'cinq-deux a la Thistle' would do just fine for my 50th birthday on Saturday.....
  9. You can see the value of Welsh to the team today. A player who can put his foot on the ball, create space and remove the need to get it 'launched up the park'. Without him, our play in the first half descended into a horrible head-tennis war of attrition. No grip on the midfield at all. However, Archie got it spot on subs-wise. I thought Amoo would provide the pace but Hamilton had clearly seen what he did to St Johnstone last week and he was way too close to Muzzy. Amoo doesn't work as a striker as proven today. But put Doolan and Erskine on and it squeezes the play giving Booth and Lawless the space to run.
  10. Great article - read it having a coffee and then bought the paper anyway. Great Moroccan fish tagine/stew recipe in the magazine as well....

  12. How do I find out if I'm actually getting entered for the draw for this? Money leaves my bank account every month without fail, but I've never won anything. I think the reference for the transfer still says Jagspot on it.....
  13. The team didn't need persuading - it was the sponsor that had to be persuaded to stump up the funding.
  14. I'd be interested to know how many flats Thistle own/use for player accomodation. I think (from Conrad's tweets!) that there's a couple down at Lancefield Quay...
  15. That explains why he knows the way to goal.....
