  1. And I'm going to kick this off. Under Alan Archibald I have witnessed the most enjoyable period of my Thistle life. The management and team are growing with every season. The pitch problem is a pain and I want it to go away. So I'm in for £2
  2. The Player Sponsorship fundraising has been phenomenal. Now there is a new challenge. Postponements mean lost income and now the pitch needs extensive, expensive work to avoid it happening again. With the support of the club, I'm looking to raise funds to help. Anything we can do will underpin the amazing achievement of this forum's fundraising efforts this season. And so, ladies and gentlemen, it's Pay As You Enjoy (Great, isn't it? Wish I'd thought of it. Thanks Fawlty Towers) I want you to pledge £1. That's one pound for every point that the team gains between now and the end of the season. Every point over 31 will cost you £1. If we average a point a game your pledge will be £14. When we reach 36 pledges, the club will reward us with a prize. And you know what that means. A competition. Hooray! The winner will get Firhill matchday hospitality for two at a game of their choice next season*. Pushing on from there, if we get 72 pledges, the prize on offer will be increased. *Prize excludes ugly sisters matches. 14 games to go. Averaging one point per game, 36 pledges @ £1 = £504 You can, of course, pledge £2 or more. Each £1 you pledge gives you one entry to the competition. For the club we love. Let's go kids.
  3. No. American (simplified) cricket.
  4. Anything we can do to support the club and help with the pitch problem will be welcome. New fundraising thread starting this evening. Please give it your support.
  5. I know. Popular choice. I'm praying for no tie!
  6. Anything that reduces that £100,000 bill is a good idea.
  7. Your post was a question, inviting a response. I imagine I'm being defensive now too. Tedious.
  8. I could reply to your full post ... ...or an edited version. Perhaps best to read the post I was quoting and my reply in full rather than selecting sections of my post to alter the context.
  9. Anybody needing turf around the end of May? Make the club an offer.
  10. I have no idea how the club organises its finances. Whatever way you look at it, it's £100,000 that the club weren't expecting to have to pay out. Wherever it comes from it's a big hit for the club. They probably know how to pay for it but other areas of financing will suffer. Consider also the wasted money and lost revenue from postponements and mid-week rearrangements. Despite the 'debt free' fanfare, they are not awash with money.
  11. One hundred thousand pounds is a lot of money. I'm sure the club would rather spend it elsewhere, including the player budget. If we were able to raise a very small portion of it, it would effectively free up club funds for the playing budget. The WAT71 have raised a tremendous amount for the player budget this season. It's very frustrating that, with all the postponements, our efforts have been watered down (couldn't resist that ). I emailed Ian Maxwell this evening to ask whether there was anything the club could offer as a reward to the winner of a Wet Are Thistle competition. We'll see...
  12. Not in the first instance. There is a bonus life called a 3B (for reasons that are not about to be made clear). Here is the rule; The 3B bonus is back. The first time you make an incorrect prediction, it enables you to stay in the competition. It is denoted by an asterisk beside your name. Here is another rule; If you do not made a prediction before the deadline, you are out. Alas, stillresigned, you're out.
  13. So there's nothing to worry about. The club have this covered and it will have no effect on the budget. That's good news.
  14. Ok, I just need 10,000 of you to pledge £10 each. A giant Last Jag Standing at the start of next season. Winner gets a signed football. Who's in?
  15. Sorry, you've got me. Cabbage? Fake Thistle?
  16. Thanks TomReilly. Good to see we're back to people who can read
  17. You didn't pick Inverness (or Hibs) in the last round so I can only accept the other three picks.
  18. Went to see Cork City play while working there. They had a couple of very large flags behind the goal which were waved by ballpersons as the teams ran out. Would look very impressive if we had a few of those.
  19. I wish you guys would stop selling me the wrong tickets!
  20. The distribution at mid-week games is a particular problem as youth team players have training. Cushion was welcome insulation from the cold seat.
  21. You didn't pick Hibs in the last round so you can't have them now. Unfortunately, you only get to pick three teams in this round.
