  1. As a small getitupye, I just voted for our player. Am I being paranoid, or does the voting page being headed by a large picture of Shankland not seem like an attempt to influence the voting? Should the illustration for the competition not be a neutral picture of, say, a goal net?
  2. Got my mug this afternoon and enjoying a first coffee from it. Good quality and great service. Thanks, BB
  3. Congratulations, Phil, that is a great choice of design and all classy as **** ( all get out)! Will have a family confab and drop you an order.
  4. Can I vote for option 3, please? I'm sure we'd pass the eleven votes to one hurdle - on this forum, at least.
  5. I have found the ICT statement and read it, and I would recommend everyone to do likewise. From a club with something to lose, a promotion play-off, it is a remarkably comprehensive expression of their disgust at the way the SPFL have created and handled this whole mess. Hats off to them for their excellent contribution. Let's hope other clubs stick their heads above the parapet.
  6. To put an optimistic slant on our current predicament, it gives us the chance to win another league championship or two. An opportunity that has been denied to all the self-preserving, serial mid-table mediocrity clubs like Aberdeen, Motherwell, St. Johnstone, etc. in many decades. These clubs will never see a league flag unfurled, unless they go to Parkhead or, less likely, Ibrox. How their fans motivate themselves at the start of yet another season they can't possibly win utterly defeats me. Let's get it right up the lot of them!
  7. That's awful for such a young man. Wishing him a full and speedy recovery. One of my favourite players.
  8. Who authorised the cost of the Deloitte (whitewash) one?
  9. Aye - That's him. A good young player, if memory serves.
  10. Who was the ex-Jag who worked in Greaves? David somebody? Had to retire early due to injury, I think.
  11. Yes, indeedy - hilarious (and confusing!)
  12. Are they, by any chance, the SPFL auditors as well? Wouldn't be the first big accounting firm, allegedly, to "play nice" in order to keep a lucrative engagement. Of course they may well actually be independent, but still will be earning a fee for their services. Nothing to see here - move along.....
  13. Couldn't agree more with the honourable Lady Barnet. Ceasing to split the gate money had been the biggest single detriment to the non-OF teams in 3 or 4 decades. No one outside the deadly duo has, or will ever again, win the top league, and that makes for an entirely pointless league season. All the teams, bar two, have no chance of winning their league. At least relegation gives the opportunity to pick up a league championship. .....and the OF have the bare-faced cheek to blame the other Premier League teams for not offering a sufficient challenge to enable them to be sharp enough for success in Europe! Utter hypocrisy, but I don't expect them to see that through their green or blue specs, even though they will continue to languish in the low to middling regions of European football for as long as their selfishness lasts.
  14. Just renewed our two season tickets today. I'm backing the club, as best I can, to get out of this disgraceful SPFL-created mess.
  15. My guess is that our time biding on the sooside refers to a wee spell that Thistle had as lodgers in Edmiston Drive, whilst waiting for Firhill to be ready.
  16. I'd go for the rockers one - never could stand Vespas and Lambrettas!
  17. References - 1) John Le Carre's book done on TV, with Alec Guinness as George Smiley. Very slow by modern standards, but a real favourite of mine. 2) A (retired?) Metropolitan Police Commissioner advertising Goodyear? radial tyres. Yes - I am an older supporter. :-)
  18. From a fan giving loads of abuse to Billy Dodds while warming up for the opposition - "Don't kid on ye cannae hear me - no wi' ears that size!"
  19. Welcome CWJ. Crime Writer Jag? Edinburgh? Ian Rankin has joined us! :-)
  20. There used to be a supporter who posted on here (maybe the late nineties?) and made loads of thistle enamel badges. Memory says he went by the handle Sussex Jag, but that may be totally wrong.
  21. And ex players - noticed Freddie Frans had been generous. Bravo Freddie! et merci.
  22. On a quick look, the people involved mostly seem to have extensive and varied work experience and should bring some useful skills to the party. I wish them well and thank them for their contributions.
