  1. Really tough one to take, I've experienced my fair share of heartbreak as a Thistle fan like we all have but that was quite possibly the worst of the lot.

I had my concerns after the first 20 mins or so, we just couldn't get a handle on the game and were conceding possession so cheaply. That being said we were defending quite well but there was no way we could have kept that up for 90 mins. To get in at HT 1-0 was the stuff of dreams, we'd played poorly and had extended our lead.

This is where i'd be a bit critical of the manager, we should have made the change to shore up at that point. We'd been getting bombarded, were losing the midfield battle and were not really in the game in an attacking sense so something needed to be done. The lack of options on the bench was probably what made Doolan hesitant here but there must have been something that could have been done.

We were quite lucky they didn't get the first goal earlier. The chance right before HT and then the Brownlie slip at the start of the second half were huge let offs, these were the warning signs.

The penalty was really unfortunate, I just cant get my head around what is a handball and what's not these days. It seems to make no sense.

Our reaction to that penalty was absolutely farcical though and that was the moment that the game really flipped, I felt that sucked the life out of us and that it was only a matter of time until they got the third.

We can blame the referee or VAR but what happened in those last 20 mins and beyond was all down to us and how we managed the game. We had enough chances in the first game to put them away and being 3-0 up with 20 mins to go should have allowed us to play them on the break. We just never seemed to be able to get a foothold.

We maybe weren't ready as a squad to go up but when the chance presents itself you just have to take it, you may not get another one for a while. I doubt we'll be in as good a position again anytime soon and that's probably the most gutting thing.

  2. We can blame the referees and VAR all we want, the flow of decisions was definitely against us for most of that second leg but VAR also gave us the majority of the home game playing against ten men. We just didn't properly hammer home that advantage.

We lost because we didn't put them away when we had the chance, they had the ascendancy for about 30 mins of the 180 and scored the goals they needed to in that time.

Doolan has so far kept any changes from game to game to an absolute minimum. If Bannigan is back he might start instead of Fitz, but other than that it will be the same 11.

Does anyone know if there is any chance of Milne being back before the end of the playoffs ?

No chance of Milne being back unfortunately.

  4. Spoke to one of the players after the game and he said there had been a sickness bug that had run through the squad during the week and they they all were struggling coming into the game.

Said that they were all absolutely shattered towards the end of the game so this maybe explains why we were off it a little bit.

  5. I think if he had been sacked after the game last weekend I doubt many would have batted an eyelid, certainly the timing is very bizarre but it has been something that has been coming.

That being said, if the plan is to appoint Dools and hope for the best we probably would have been better keeping him till the end of the season and then getting someone in at that point.

We'd probably have made the playoffs, maybe made it through one round and then gone out. I'm not convinced Doolan will do any better but we'll see.

This is unless we had sounded out an outstanding candidate and heard over the weekend that he would be interested and we then pulled the trigger.

Don't think Cammy Snith needs to wear one of these performance trackers as I am often completely unaware that he is on the park - except when he is substituted!

Probably insists on wearing it so he has proof he actually appeared and moved around a bit.

I asked this before (I think) and got no answer (I think):

What is the purpose of the little garment that lots of players these wear under their jersey; it comes half-way down their chest, and actually looks like a bra for the flat-chested.

I can't figure out what it actually does.

Whatever it is, presumably it's a fad that will die out (a bit like those nasal strips that so many players were wearing in the 90s; now they are rare).

GPS tracker and also some have heart monitors in them.

Got to say that I don't understand why Napoli got to retake the penalty when it was one of their own players who was infringing. That doesn't make sense.

The Rangers player immediately beside the Napoli player that scored the rebound was also encroaching, so in that instance the penalty is retaken.

Had it been the Napoli player only then it would have been an indirect free kick to Rangers.

Is it just this season QP are sharing with us?

    At the moment, yes.

QP are "on track" to be playing at Lesser Hampden from the start of next season. I would imagine if it rumbles on for another season we will probably tell them to look elsewhere.

Ayr have asked that their home game against Raith Rovers this Saturday be postponed due to covid cases.

Airdrie v Alloa game has been postponed as Airdrie don't have enough players to fufil the fixture due to players self isolating, so I would assume Ayr will be granted that request also.

Will happen more and more in the coming months, until enough players are double vaccinated and can avoid the self isolation rule with a negative test.

Meant to say, does anyone know if the Arbroath stream is that pixellot nonsense? I'm sure it was when I found a stream for their game with St J last week and the camera kept zooming away from goals to a baldy guy while the pens were in place, but checking their highlights on youtube it looks like a normal camera? cheers

They started with the pixellot camera but changed to a proper camera at some point last season.

Not sure if they've went back or not.

    Are we now Level -0.5?

To me Level 0 in my mind means normality.  It's a confusing numbering system.

There is no Level any more, we have moved away from the levels system.

There are still some restrictions remaining, but we're no longer in any "level"
