  1. I thought Jimmy bone but couldn't recall him ever boasting such glowing locks...
  2. Horn is the lad who scored a hat-trick for the under 18s in recent 3-2 win against Ayr at Somerset...
  3. Checking the records Tommy Gibb won a single under-23 cap. Joe McBride was a terrific player. Arrived from Luton town in a swap ,(I think) for Jim Fleming and had a tremendous scoring record at every club for whom he played. Would have been a Lisbon Lion but for injury...
  4. As a kid I was crestfallen but proud when my jags' heroes such as sandy brown, Dougie baird, Tommy gibb and Andy kerr all moved to the English first division. I thought that they were great players and it was nice to know someone else thought the same.
  5. Lovely stuff, Kenny. A worthy tribute...
  6. MANY thanks everyone. Friends and family know to avoid the score all day then around 2pm on Sunday, I pour myself a generous gin and tonic and watch the Jags 'live' on jagzone. I WILL be back because I do miss the banter. Thanks again for all your good wishes ..
  7. And, indeed many thanks to all the members of our jags' family who have added their support. Believe me, it means a lot...
  8. Thank you, Jim. Your kind words have perked me up no end.....
  9. I outrank you by a few years having first attended estadio firhill in 1956. I am currently receiving treatment for cancer so I might never manage along again. But supporting thistle over the decades has been one of the great joys of my life. Like The Beatles, a nice Shiraz, playing in the snow with my weans and more recently grandweans. I have loved being a Jag and being surrounded by fellow jags at firhill. We might not have the best team in our history at the present time but, by god, they're MY team and I'm mighty proud of them...
  10. Arkle versus millhouse. A great equine rivalry...
  11. Denis played football in a cloud of unconscious genius - he is also one of the nicest men ever to lace up a pair of boots...
  12. Was at that game but thought my mind might have been playing tricks. Denis was always very good in the air. Feel great, thanks (- my daughter is called jeannie...)
  13. Could field all three; if memory serves I think Denis once scored a hat-trick playing at centre forward. But I've just completed five weeks of radiotherapy and my brain may be scrambled...
  14. Looks like the press bar to me though I have surrendered many a brain cell within it's homely confines over the years so my memory is always dodgy...
  15. Our Sammy always displayed a great economy of movement...
  16. We had a man in the dug out who could have taught all of the above about the dark arts - Bertie auld..
  17. Apocryphal but sort of sums up the man's playing style: Mrs John greig takes a phone call from Scot Symon around 5pm on Saturday. SS: sorry to have to tell you but John's broken a leg Mrs JG: oh, no, whose was it this time?
  18. Claudio Gentile (juventus and 1982 world cup winner) remains the hardest player I ever saw. Off the pitch he was a soppy dad and the most gentle and courteous man you could wish to meet. So well done our academy..
  19. I have been a great admirer for many a long year but in my opinion Stuart is just too slow and too negative. It pains me to see him struggle...
  20. Thistle 4 QP 0 Thistle 3 Ayr 0 Thistle 5 Ayr 0 I think SB missed all three games...
  21. Think he was going under the surgeon's scalpel a short time ago. He as so very good - a class act in the championship
  22. Lewis neilson appears to be very highly thought of at Tyne castle. Even has European experience - although sent off against fiorentina last season...
