It sounds like a simple and logical thing to do, but the people we had on the park and the bench are those that are available for him to pick from. He tried something different against Dundee Utd and it was almost successful. Williams got injured. So that trial was aborted. He tried Milne at Centre back vs QP, which didn’t really work, but Adeloye coming on sparked a come back but he got injured. What would you do next ?

Not many options to be sure but plenty of lessons …..

1 recruitment has been poor the idea that doolan knows a player ( presumably based on the fact he was one ) has been shown to be way off the mark…..a complete overhaul of this is required

2 the squad construction needs a rethink 4 goalkeepers , 8 midfielders is madness ….we have been short in central defence all season

3 coaching….who is doing the defensive coaching …..it’s simply dreadful

4 tactics…..we have been averaging 1.5 goals a game all season but doolan only changed personnel and formation in February

  2. The general trend of the team isn’t great…..we are struggling to win a game and far from challenging for promotion we are only 4 points above the fifth placed side ( cue….i always thought we would be mid table , I’m amazed we are not relegated by now )

its 9 games since we have won a match and our performances are very variable with defensive weaknesses continuing.

signs of improvement not that obvious

  3. much better today though we sat back too deep in the second half …. Mitchell  made a couple of good saves so that’s a positive !

I thought Williams was very good today and gives us the opportunity to rest Muirhead …..

sadly we gave away another error strewn goal but st least it was only one !

I can’t help feeling Fitzpatrick isn’t fully fit he seems to tire pretty quickly too often and had a poor second half .

stops the danger of a losing run and hopefully settles everyone down

Stop trying to bring nuance in to the argument or acknowledge that sometimes people make decisions based on more than metrics, KPIs, measures, data or whatever you want to call it.

Only a quantitative analysis is acceptable in Mr Jordanhill's view of the business world.

I'm sure he has the same opinion on sporting performance. Dools should only be looking at the numbers to determine how to make the team win again. Data science for the win!

I find it laughable (and exasperating) that someone would choose to argue these same points over and over, as if numeric analysis by itself is the sole arbiter in matters like this. An extremely simplistic take on things, or as others have suggested, a smokescreen to hide a personal beef behind.

    Time for forum break.

    Ok I’ll stop

So by Logic -you sack one Manager for not hitting Targets - You Sack the other One

McCall was sacked before it was clear whether or if any target had been reached as it was in February ……your flogging a very dead horse here…..it would be madness to have such rigid policy and even if it applied to McCall ( which I doubt ) I would support ditching it asap.

the board should rightly assess doolans performance at the end of the season …if we make the playoffs I suspect he will be here next season, if we don’t make them then it’s more of a debate.

To give Jim's fingers a well earned rest I will answer this one.

The report from the club after the AGM stated the budgeted for loss was based on finishing in the playoffs and not getting past Ross County in the cup.

Thanks for that ….its a financial budgeting statement which is not the same as the manager will be sacked if we don’t finish third ( which would be daft anyway ) statement.

  7. Our defensive options are very very limited … we have 7 in the squad but o’reilly is injured and clearly Williams and ngwenya are not rated….

poor recruitment and squad building are to blame but luckily no one is responsible for any of that

    same back 4 on Saturday

I don’t think I should. From November until the Livingston game we had lost more than 1 goal in a game only 3 times out of 13 games. Since McBeths introduction it’s 3 times in 3 games. You can’t ignore the facts.

Ah good old Socratic logic ……that’s not a casual relationship
