Great day out in hospitality so well oiled back home.  Echo others above,  first half fairly evens but 2nd half took em apart.  Love Mcbeth and looking much more solid.  If possible would see no harm in Dowds returning for play offs.

Will usually moan at em but thought ref ok today as well.

Glad you enjoyed hospitality. Watching the snooker this morning John Virgo said 'a good ref is one you don't notice' and for me today's ref was like that, not often you can say that about the officials in our games.

  2. First half we shaded it and just deserved our lead second half we struggled and gave the ball away a number of times, Fitzpatrick taking the ball to the corner flag and trying to waste time with about 15 minutes to go summed up or second half performance. McBeth MOTM for me. An important 3 points and another clean sheet. ICT did not look like a second bottom team.

  3. A number of teams could still make top 4. For example a Morton win today they could go 4th on the other hand Morton lose and ICT win at Firhill Morton would drop to 8th, with only 2 points between them and 9th placed ICT, albeit Morton have a game in hand. As for us we just need to keep winning and let the teams below us get on with it.

  4. A very important and imo a well deserved 3 points yesterday. Some teams who only a few weeks ago looked as if they would be playing to stay away from the relegation play off position have now put themselves in contention for 4 th. Praise for whoever thought of putting the advertising boards a bit closer to disrupt Morton's long throw tactic, which we dealt with very well.

  5. Well deserved win. Graham took his goal well. McBeth did really well at centre half, unlucky not to get a clean sheet as we stood up well to their long throw tactic. Strapp wanted to dismantle the advertising boards every time he took a throw. Hope this win gives us confidence and we keep in 3rd place.

  6. When asked on last night's View From The Terrace who his favourite team to score against is, Brian Graham replied Greenock Morton, time to 'fill your boots' Brian. :fan:

  7. It won't be easy but for me we should be looking to win this game to get our season back on track. Our defending will need to be a lot better than recent games and any chances we get we will need to take. Strapp's throw ins are better than corners or free kicks at times, so we will need to keep our concentration. If Lawless and or Fitzpatrick are getting double marked that should make space for our other forwards to exploit. We are at home and we need to start winning games again if we want to stay in a play off place.

I outrank you by a few years having first attended estadio firhill in 1956. I am currently receiving treatment for cancer so I might never manage along again. But supporting thistle over the decades has been one of the great joys of my life. Like The Beatles, a nice Shiraz, playing in the snow with my weans and more recently grandweans. I have loved being a Jag and being surrounded by fellow jags at firhill. We might not have the best team in our history at the present time but, by god, they're MY team and I'm mighty proud of them...

All the best and i hope you manage back to see the Jags in person.

Like you and every other fan i have great memories and not so great memories following the Jags and although we didn't win yesterday it was great to see the team put in a much improved performance which was appreciated by the fans who created a very good atmosphere.

Haste you back to Firhill. :fan: :thumbsup2:

Strangely I thought that the referee was quite good today and let the game flow. He did not give a foul every time a player fell over, like most referees tend to do.

Agree, i felt this made it a more enjoyable game.

I thought that every player earned pass marks, with McBeth, williams and Milne deserving extra mention. We looked far more confident than i thought we would've after our last couple of results. Keep playing like that and we should hold onto our top 4 place then who knows what could happen.

This round of results make it look much like a battle between DU & Raith for 1 & 2, and between us & Morton for 3 & 4.   We & Morton both have to play the top 2 twice in the run in.  Morton have the momentum, but we have 2 more points.  So despite Friday's awful result , we're still looking good for a playoff place.  The competition is reassuringly far behind.

The perfect set of midweek results imo would be.

First and foremost  We beat Ayr

    Raith beat Morton

    Dundee Utd beat Airdrie

Those results would just about guarantee us to finish in the top 4.

Our next 3 home games are big ones, Dundee Utd, Raith Rovers and Morton, let's hope we get big crowds for them, although with the Raith Rovers game being a Tuesday night and also on BBC Scotland that will affect the crowd.

Whilst I am as scunnered as everyone else after last night - we did not play well in the second half which we can't blame the officials for we will still be 3rd after today's game with 12 games remaining. I would still rather be in our position than Morton's, Airdrie's or Ayr's.

We will see how the scores go today. It wasn't all that long ago we looked a stick on for 3rd, if we don't sort out our defending we could struggle for top 4. Morton are the form team, we were the last to beat them when we won 2-1 at Firhill. Unlike us they seem to have had the refs decision's go for them, seems Dundee Utd should have got a penalty when Morton beat them 3-2 and we should have also got a last minute penalty against them at Cappielow that ended 1-1. They say these things even them themselves out over a season, we will see.

Agree with @lady-isobel-barnett our game management is very poor, if it was better we would be a premier league team this season and also in the next round of the Scottish cup are 2 examples that come to mind.

One other decision that baffled me and had a massive bearing on the game and possibly not been mentioned.

The equaliser comes from a corner given when our keeper catches the ball on or behind the goal line, I’m not sure exactly as even on tv it’s unclear, but either way he moves forward with the ball not backwards. If he catches behind the line it’s a goal kick, if he catches on the line it’s play on. It was never a corner, yet just like with the Livvy game it’s wrongly given and we concede.

Did anyone nearer the goal line have a clearer view & opinion?

At the front of the Lambie stand so impossible to say if corner was correct call. What i did see was us clearing the ball and nobody challenge the Dunfermline player who was allowed to stroll forward and have a shot unchallenged. We should have put a tackle in.
