  1. WE should concentrate on getting the out of contract players we want to keep hopefully signed up by the end of the season and then look to get new contracts for the likes of Murhead, Balatoni, Sinclair and Bannigan who could be mainstays in our team for years or sold for a good return. Then we should be looking to sign players for next year. As to who we can afford I honestly dont know. We havent been afraid to throw a small transfer fee to get the players we want (Sinclair and Muirhead for starters) and have been able to get players thrown on the scrapheap by other teams like Lawless and Forbes who have performed well for us. If Morton are going part time then either of Bachirou or Tidser will be available although likely outwith our price range. The likes of Graham at Raith would do a job but not sure how he would fit into our style of play. Gonna be an interesting close season no matter what happens
  2. 16 team league playing each other twice then 2 x 8 is a good option as we are unlikely to see 3 x 14 IMO. Teams 1-4 and 9-12 get the 4 home games after the split for being the top teams in their "section". Basically the 16-10-16 thought up by the SFL months ago. (prob already been posted but CBA reading all through )
  3. Hibs. All the Hibbess at work have been going on for weeks about us getting promoted so they can have a proper game to visit in Glasgow without going to the OF. So the return visit through their will be mental Failing that the old favourites of Inverness and Dingwall
  4. They will sell out of their retail unit in Port Dundas and online. At least i remember reading that somewhere. If the Firhill Cup top is anything to go by then it should be fine. All I have always asked for is plain polo shirts and t-shirts with the club logo on them. Also the t-shirts that Greaves stocked when they first took over the merchandising were excellent. More of them please

Joined up , got a crappy number but hey its no worry Seems an excellent scheme and a great incentive for people who are maybe wavering a bit to purchase a season ticket for next season. I know in a lot of cases it can come down to cost but if you are looking at getting an additional £60 value for your season ticket cost then IMO that makes that decision a wee bit easier for some people. Hopefully a lot of people join up to the scheme as it should be a great way to get more fan involvement in the club and get even more of a "family" feeling about the place. WRT the Jags Trust, primarily they are an organisation formed to hold the shareholding in the club so IMO there is no conflict of interest with the new Supporters Federation.
  7. I think if we secure promotion there needs to be forms about for season tickets at the Dunfermline game. Even if its just to register an interest to get a call back once prices have been decided for next year. Anyway I think this is an apt picture
  8. Surely the first €100k is protected under the deposit protection scheme and cant be touched? If a % of that is taken by the Government then can the savers claim against that scheme? Utterly stinks though, why bother saving anything with any bank when this kind of thing can happen. Will result in more people keeping their savings as cash in their house.
  9. IMO there is no chance of this going ahead given the weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow. If there are doubts about the pitch already then they should call it off tonight if they can
  10. Watch when he checks his runs though, most of the time its when Muirhead has the ball and is running forward into space. Its also a tactic to stop and go, draw the fullback or make him think he is stopping them use his speed to get by him. Worked on 2 or 3 occasions..
  11. 41 from 42 only Elgin to go, although could argue that St Mirren doesnt count as ive not been to the new ground Also not been the this new diddy club called Rangers ground before
  12. Possibly Alex Burns goal to complete his hat trick (it was defo part of the hat trick anyway) from the main stand touchline. Cannae remember who against. Either that or Gerry v Dundee in the cup. Still got that on my PC for nostalgia Edit: Just went to watch the goal again and found Shaggy v ICT , thats up there with the best as well
  13. just bought mine in Row H decent enough seats Apologies in advance for any poor ******** sat near us for the language
  14. As someone put on Twitter last night "we're on the march wi' Archie's army we're going to the Cowdenbeath"
  15. Pressley had longer to run on his contract hence the supposed larger compensation payment. WOuldnt be surprised if the payment was a buyout of the years notice , so the cash would be whatever salary JM was on.
  16. Much better performance than anything over the last month. Controlled large parts of the game although Falkirk came to play a similar style to ours and that definitely helps us. Thought no player had a bad game today , everyone contributed and everyone made some mistakes but hey its SFL1 no one is ever going to be perfect . Erskine's goal was the best ive seen in a long long time. Excellent ball from Craigan (who had a really good 20 mins when he came on) and fantastic control with the lob over the keeper. Will take something special to beat that to goal of the season. Taylor is the best striker in the league by miles and has carried that Falkirk team all year. If it wasnt for him they would be in deep shit at the bottom of the table. If he had signed for us or any of Morton/Dunfermline that team would be miles clear at the top IMO.
  17. Right thats it , games over, im agreeing with Charles Green here (although this smells of Traynor and his "plans" he announced in the Daily Ranger last year). The conspirator in me thinks that this has been fed out via Green by Longmuir so that he can appear to be in cahoots with the SPL/SFL while secretly getting someone who is getting piles of media attantion anyway to peddle the line that everyone actually wants (and get Green some good publicity). If they are moving the financial payments for the equivalent of the first division to be closer to the bottom of the SPL then there really is no blocker to going to 14 teams. Even if they want to continue their split and likely go 6/8 it is a structure that can be mirrored throughout all 3 divisions so there is no confusion for any club in any league. My preferance is still 14 with 39 games and some sort of financial adjustment to cover for lack of home games against bigger clubs in the final round of games , maybe even something that each club keeps 80% of the gate fee from its own fans going to away games.
  18. How does it add interest in the first part of the season ? Thistle could quite easily take the foot off the gas and comfotably still be in the top 4 to go into the Shampionship league of 8 with the dregs from the SPL and 3 others from SFL1, would that actually be good to watch or pay for when plenty of games in the first 22 would be meaningless ? Same scenario in the middle 8, for us we would get a chance at top 4 and then 22 games via SPL teams , what if say Cowdenbeath had a great start to the season and were 4th , with their shitty stadium could they be involved in hosting the 4 SPL teams ? Surely if they require 6000 seats to be in the SPL they need it to be in the middle league to play the SPL teams there ? Too many questions not enough answers for me , 3 x 14 is the way to go IMO
  19. most teams would have 3 games to play , we would have 5 to play. Just adds more madness to the idea TBH
  20. Was talking about this last night at work and 18-12-12 is a sensible solution as pointed out by others. Taking the leagues to 8-8-8 is just nonsense and negates a large % of the first part of the season for many clubs who will likely never make it into the top 8 and just field a weakend team till January and then sign players for 6 months to try get back into the top 12 again. For the players union this should be a non starter. Why the **** did the SFL make such a noise about 16-10-16 then cave so quickly to the SPL ? Surely it wasnt cash being dangled in front of them ? I cant see that happening ever (/sarcasm) Should be 14/14/14 with every team playing each other 3 times for 39 games. Any team drawn to play any of the Infirm away from home in the final round of 13 games get to keep the money raised by ticket sales to away fans minus any policing/stewarding costs. That should remove the scaremongering about loss of home games to Celtic and zRangers. The more fans you take then the more cash you get back, pretty simple as I see it. This one is gonna run for ages as most fans are opposed to the changes and if the SFL/SPL/SFA just impose this then more will walk away from the game that all teams can ill afford.
  21. IMO the only comparisons are with previous years attendances. Our crowds are a bit up on last year, if we continue to play good football and are near (or at) the top of the league then we will hopefully get crowds over 3000 regularly and over 5000 for the "bigger" games v Morton and Dunfermline. Things are positive round Firhill at the moment and Thistle are putting in a ton of work in trying to attract new and old fans back to Firhill. The work needs to continue though to get more people coming through the gates, the Kids for Free is something that all clubs should be looking at. Yeah it may be a short term hit to income but medium to long term it will be more income for clubs and will attract more fans to the games. Crowds in general are going to be down compared to years ago , people have so many other things to do on Saturdays while a sizeable % now work at least part of the weekends. We are no longer doing 9-5 Mon to Fri as a standard week for everyone and that will affect how many people can get to games. Thats why I would like to see a couple more Friday night games to see what that does to crowds. Also the SFL missed a massive chance with the zRangers fiasco and subsequent TV negotiations should have included some sort of deal to cover a couple of SFL1 games live or even a 30 mins weekly highlights package.
  22. Its gonna be a close thing , I think they key will be injuries. If we can get everyone fit and keep them fit then we have as good a chance as we have had in years of winning the league. If Morton lose their experienced players then they likely will struggle as we have for the last few weeks. Still to close to call IMO.
  23. Got one for the auld yin, nice early Christmas present Really good value for the 9 games tbh.
  24. Wot in the name of **** is that kind of setup ? 16-10-18 ??? Thats utter lunacy. 3 x 14 and leave the teams as they are at the moment. is the best solution IMO. Will still result in some sort of split during the season but having a 10 team league in the middle is just bonker. If they are insisting on 10 then make it the bottom league.
  25. Gotta keep hoping but Elgin away please
