  1. Even in these days of the fast managerial roundabout, leaving after only 12 games is rather unique. Especially at a lower league club where expectations are considerably lower.
  2. Round my area in the JHS it's generally accepted it's sit anywhere on non ST days. Could be due to being in a popular situation as we appear to attract a lot of casual visitors even on ST days when there's little free seating. Maybe a subject that TJF could settle. It's certainly what I would describe as a fans issue.
  3. We're safe. Looks like "Colin" is getting the gig. Temporarily at least. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68197268
  4. It's still in Raith's hands to lose but from what little I saw of them last night I'd like to think we'd have beaten them today. Last season's play offs were exceptional but our chances of promotion will be so much greater if we were to secure 2nd place. To do that I'd imagine we'll need to at least reverse results with Raith (a win & a draw). Elsewhere Raith have won so many games by a single goal, so any loss of form is encouraging.
  5. I think it could be down to us not having the muscle elsewhere in midfield. Doolan has had to rely on other midfielders showing a bit of dig. James for instance doesn't have the tacking ability of Stanway and others. McBeth's signing may have solved the defensive side of things tho' he's yet to start. Of course that means if Luke does start there'll be one less midfield slot available. Think like many James will have to go out on loan to get anything near regular football.
  6. I think both Lyon and MacKenzie would benefit from going out on loan. Different cases tho'. James is unlikely to get much game time this season with us. So I can only imagine we can't find him a suitable club. It's different with Zander. We possibly needed to bring in a player to justify his loss. Zander can come off the bench to cover a few positions.
  7. Decent enough away point. Another example of one of those games we'd have lost this time last season. Both teams were going for a win but there wasn't too many clear cut chances for either side. Possibly coincidental but it was perhaps not a bad thing that our three yellow carded players were subbed. The game ended up rather frenetic and I sensed a second yellow was in the offing. Thought McBeth looks promising in the deep midfield slot. Looks like he can be quite creative, which is a bit of a bonus.
  8. So perhaps the only likelihood of him signing would be in the summer. And at that dependent on an unfavourable to player relegation clause kicking in.
  9. Difficult to predict. Obviously on a high after last week, but I'd think playing Airdrie away just as hard as Cappielow. Can see a change at centreback as Aero is carrying a couple of injuries, but then again we've no game the following weekend. Only other changes I imagine would be fitness related.
  10. Doubt it. But it does explain Derek Adams trying to squirm out of his contract at County.
  11. I prefer the more attacking set up we have at present to playing two up. Then again it's also down to personnel. Lawless & Graham are here for another couple of seasons but age could pay a toll. Ironically we may be better suited to playing three at the back while we've still got Neilson than next season. Similarly we likely won't have McMillan who can play a genuine wingback role. Not that I'm advocating it or expecting Doolan to change formation just now, more about the question of personnel. Should also point out I'm talking about starting elevens. A team has to have the ability to adapt formation to chase a game or protect a lead. We're now better equipped player wise to do so.
  12. Think Lenziejag is guessing correctly. McCall is probably going to use whatever budget he has to bring in experienced players to help dig his team out of their current mess. I doubt Ji Stevenson's return will have any affect on whether we're doing anymore signing. Maybe he'll go back out on loan to another club.
  13. Appears to be the case. Over these three seasons there's not been much difference regarding the overall size of visiting clubs. So it's not as if the number of away support has had much affect.
  14. Gotta also be minded that the make up of this season's squad at one time looked like much of it would've consisted of youngsters emerging from the academy. They'd have played alongside our remaining contracted players and a few cheapo loanees. In short just having those academy players could've been a necessity.
  15. So true. You've also got to evaluate the effectiveness/cost of a scouting system. Stands to reason the less emphasis on a youth policy the more you rely on scouting to identify young potentials.
  16. Thinking likewise tho' if we were bringing in anyone I reckon it would be a wide attacking midfielder as cover. I suppose a replacement for McDonald. Even at that I feel MacKenzie is quite capable of cover there so he'd possibly have to go out on loan.
  17. Not necessarily. Raith could win the league.
  18. I suppose they could move the Arbroath game for Friday night telly. I see Dundee Utd play Raith the following week, so I'd imagine that increases the chances of our game being televised. One thing for certain Arbroath won't want to reschedule from a Saturday KO. Loss of gate receipts & hospitality.
  19. One blessing, we don't have to go their place. Dreadful away day. Besides we're absent from Firhill so much these days a home game is most welcome. Certainly should be winnable and coming on the back of Saturday's game will give us an idea of where we are should we reach the play off final.
  20. Not sure I understand what's going on here. Some folk are saying Stuart Bannigan scored a cracker of a goal with his right foot.
