Seems to get earlier every year To misquote Henry Ford I know only 10% of our players are any good but I don't know which 10%.

The least the Club should be doing is giving everyone who attended at Culter a voucher for a free pie. And most certainly not our usual poor fare either. As a way of penance Mr Balatoni should dispatched to the Richmond Arms, Petercoulter with an order for 350 of those real tasty pies.

£12 and I think £6 concessions

I think it's for the best the video was pulled. Not because the players didn't deserve a bollocking from the fans but more from the fans involved point of view. It was heat of the moment stuff and as such doesn't warrant being retained. Manys a time we lose our tempers, natural and often justified. I wouldn't like the idea of every time I've reacted to provocation my reaction to be freely available on video. In any case I wouldn't be surprised if many of the fans screaming at the players are the first to get the result/display out of their minds. Often the way.

Perhaps he went out for a pint or two with our cup tied directors?

Thanks for clearing that up. Luckily for us we're not having to reschedule a home game.

Sorry to lose any fan. Can understand folk getting sick of the repetition, lack of atmosphere, cost, state of Firhill etc but chucking it due to results I find that hard to comprehend. It is Partick Thistle FC after all and results have never really been our strong point. Btw no disrespect meant and hope you reconsider.

If it wasn't for Paul Cairney we wouldn't still be in the Cup. Apart from his rather useless corners no further criticism from me. He's been consistently our best player so far this season. I do tho' think Mr Cheesecloth should cut Erkine a bit of slack. Don't like to use statistics to make a point but Erskine, Rowson and Cairney have scored 12 goals between them so far this season. Doolan, Elliot & Stewart have scored 10 goals. True of the former three Erskine doesn't have anything like the consistency of Cairney or Rowson but he has chipped in with four goals, which is the equal of any of the latter three.

Why We're Crap In Cup Games...
lady-isobel-barnett replied to Firhillista's topic in Main Jags forum
There could well be something behind what Firhillista is saying. Attitude and the will to win may be not what it should be. I tend to cut McNamara some slack here and blame more the senior players. Ideally we want a manager that can rule with an iron rod, motivate players,is tactically sound and has a keen eye for spotting potential players but every club in the land wants the same. I happen to believe that mcNamara ticks some of the boxes and that's as good as we can realistically expect at our level and income stream. What I do question is how easy it is to gloss over poor results in what's often termed the more meaningless of games. This closed season we've played friendlies against teams we'd be expected to beat if they were serious fixtures. Defeats to Dumbarton & Blyth and a draw with Fleetwood Town can be termed meaningless but where's the win at all costs attitude? Could it be we took that mentality into immediately ensuing cup games against Berwick and Stenhousemuir (a result but a poor half hearted performance)? Then there's the reserve fixtures. Four defeats and two wins so far. Like the friendlies McNamara & Donnelly won't be paying much attention to the actual result but the players themselves should want to win every time they take to the field regardless of the lack of importance of the game itself. For the record between friendlies, testimonials & reserve fixtures I make it we've played 11 matches losing 7 times, drawing once and winning just 3 times. I'd be even dafter than I am if I said that the results of any one of these games in isolation carried any importance but taken as a whole it points to a collective attitude problem. -
After Match Reaction... (Or Lack Of...)
lady-isobel-barnett replied to P-T-118's topic in Main Jags forum
Perhaps Jackie's going to put it on Twitter instead? -
Careful! There are some on here that think verbatim is something you shout at Neil Lennon.

But it's not just the visual. I've heard Willie Collum being referred to as a wee *****. Yeh, OK, that may not be the best example.

Must admit to thinking something similar on the way home last night. The Club shouldn't morally be making money in the replay from the 350 or so that traveled. Then again if they let us lot in for nothing they'd probably lose money. By the time we split the gate take off stewarding and other costs we'll be unlikely to profit from the replay. To even get anything like a normal crowd in they're going to have to drop gate prices dramatically. Btw I hope no one has already bought train tickets for Ayr?

Was that what these pathetic coloured things were? Should take them back to Poundland or wherever and get a refund. Don't know much about all the twittering stuff but suggest our players aren't on that much of a wage to go ban them from using these sites. I realise ideally wages shouldn't come into the equation but in practice it's a lot easier for an employer to lay down dos and don'ts when the employees have a lot to lose.

That might well be the reasoning but it's the SFA that are supposed to run the Scottish Cup. Part time teams have been traveling the length and breadth of the country to play midweek fixtures since I can remember and no doubt for many decades before that. Must be some kinda Junior constitutional thingy I suppose. Real losers from yesterday's draw are Ayr Utd. Gonna lose them a bob or two.

He played alright last week and the week before he was generally accepted to be our best player. Today goal aside, where he was undoubtedly at fault, I don't recall him doing anything that bad. He is after all possibly only third choice to play in that position behind Kinniburgh and Robertson. I haven't seen enough of Sekhon but going on his game at Dumbarton I very much doubt if he's up to first team football. Don't mean to come across as an apologist for Balatoni but he's been playing in a position that due to a couple of injuries has had little or no competition for place. Anyway I can't really see when Kinniburgh is fit again with Robertson and maybe O'Donnell as cover why we'll need Balatoni past January.
-
Requiring a lot of lateral thinking to get an answer to that one. There's surely no urgency to play the replay?

I prefer my scapegoats to be on the pitch for more than just over the first half an hour.

I haven't read thru the vast majority of comments on here, which is something I rarely do before posting, so apologies if I'm repeating other posts. Relative to Ian the OP comments I don't criticise McNamara for today's result. If tho' you've bean questioning his appointment, player selection, tactics etc for some time then that's a different matter. The bigger picture if you like could be arguably a different matter. But on the specific of today's performance in isolation I can't see where McNamara should be singled out for criticism. Any Jags team should have gone out there today and ripped the opposition apart. McNamara selected roughly the strongest Jags side and played a standard system. I don't believe had José Mourinho picked the side, formation and been on the touchline we'd have done any better. Point I'm making, albeit thru an alcoholic haze, is that just about every Jags player today let us down big time. The more senior the player, regardless of their individual performance, the more culpable. Blame McNamara by all means but on a background based over several months and not this game in isolation.

I've rarely been more confident of us getting thru a cup tie. Reckon we'll have things tied up more than comfortably about mid way thru extra time in the replay.

Cup fever?
-
This I reckon will be the first time we've not had to adjust the squad to be compliant by bringing in youngster. Even so I'd like to see Campbell make the bench. Might as well cup tie Balamory and Dargo tho' I'd be pressed to come up with a likely scenario that would be of benefit to us. Don't see why you'd switch Cairney & Bannigan round, Alan?

Following Thistle Away From Home
lady-isobel-barnett replied to Jaggernaut's topic in Main Jags forum
I hear even that's under threat. Mentioned briefly on the radio as an aside from the main topic (smoking in cars) a carpet ban on alcohol on trains is evidently on the horizon . -
If they were major investors it might be ominous for that shower. Don't know anything about Murphy but I think MacLean had been discredited some time back.
