  1. Would love to play the devil's advocate with that but can't even dream up a semblance of a counter argument. Individual posts on this (or any other) website should always be taken with at least a few grams of salt. Collectively posts and polls on here are far removed from an exact science. But for a supporters group to ignore or misrepresent the groundswell of opinion from fellow supporters on here verges on the incredible. Do they think we all travel on the same virtual bus?
  2. You're right about ICT but Livingston were in the 3rd division by then.
  3. There must be something about the guy. According to Soccerbase he's only scored three goals in over 50 appearances since Cappielow. Is he a Santala in reverse or something ie a forward converted to centreback?
  4. It was still there at the time of the Ayr game but they were in the midst of redecorating then. Btw anyone seen the snug on your travels? Can't have gone far, eh?
  5. There is some merit in punting the ball to Doolan as his first touch is so good. I don't think it should be the default ball by any means but the odd safety first hoof up the park is in no way always a wasted ball as was the case a few seasons back.
  6. I was in repairing one of their uilleann pipes. It had sprung a leak.
  7. Well you get to my age and you're wary of any change . To tell the truth I'm more upset that the little snug has disappeared in the S & G.
  8. I don't disagree with a lot of your posts but for the life of me I can't understand this one above or previous posts for that matter you've made about youth & periphery squad players. I think this time agreeing to disagree should be sufficient.
  9. Ian, why can't you see the other side? I'm a season ticket holder who wouldn't buy a season ticket if Friday night football was going to be a regular occurrence and I'd suggest I'm far from alone. How many folk who went on Friday night that wouldn't/couldn't go on a Saturday would think of buying a season ticket? Besides I'd argue in any case that a similar sized crowd would be anticipated had the game gone ahead on the Saturday but that's a different matter. But let's forget about the plus or minuses of this token gesture for change from the SPL/SFL. Assume firstly that the sale of season tickets is of prime importance to the Club. If that's the case then surely sales of ST tickets will be higher if, more or less, the day and time of a fixture can be guaranteed? I feel it's appropriate to declare that the onset of Friday night football altho' would only be a minor inconvenience to myself (enough to stop me buying a season ticket but little more) would have been a complete no no a few years back when my children were younger. I can't believe other family people wouldn't be in the same boat. Of course my argument against Friday night football is lost if it can be proved that there's more people willing and able to attend than on a Saturday and youngsters (the life blood of our support) will be as numerous.
  10. Jackie McN spotted drinking Guinness in Bairds Bar this very evening. Call it damage limitation if you want but the big question we should be asking tonight is will Jackie take Simon with him?
  11. Don't really want to answer for others in their condemnation of Cappielow but for what it's worth.... You're either made to sit in the uncovered end regardless of weather or are herded into a doll's house of a stand with considerably less leg room than even Ryan Air would consider acceptable. Once squeezed into that stand you're visibility is impaired by pillars and the odd steward standing down at the front row. I don't believe it's possible from any part of the away stand to see both nearside corner flags. There is NO gents toilet in the DVT stand and the elderly and/or less abled plus parents with younger kids have to walk down and back up from near the turnstiles for the privilege of using a loo that at best can be described as quaint. The quality of catering is roughly on par with the quality of toilet and puts a different spin on the term "outside catering". Regardless of where you're sat you're charged I believe £15, which just about makes Dens Pk's £19 seem value for money. I'm far from enthralled with the state of Firhill. No one can describe it as anything other than an eyesore but at least visiting fans can sit in relative comfort, see the whole playing surface and not run the risk of getting soaked going for a pie or pee.
  12. Might be wrong and anyway I'm splitting hairs but I thought when we went top our goal difference went from negative to zero? Anyway if it was some other team than the Jags with the healthiest goal difference in a tight league I'd be tipping them as winners. Somehow having seen all our league games so far I'm far more realistic about our chances.
  13. Too true, but you really shouldn't stand at anytime with your back to a naked flame.
  14. Just how much would be the savings going part time? It's not as if we've any big earners as it is. That said it'll be a big decision for Beattle & Co on whether to offer contract extensions to players like Sinclair but a couple of decent money transfers later on would do the bank balance a power of good.
  15. That was the time when Buchanan scored two goals and had three assists. I don't believe Liam B ever came near to that level of performance for us again and we suffered as well. I do believe last night's Morton side is vastly superior to that previous one and likewise we're no longer dependent on one player. Five goals from five different players more than backs that up. I'm not getting carried away with the result but it's good to know that no opponents can single out one Jags player for extra marking to stop us from being effective.
  16. I've had at least 7 pints of Starop..... whatever yon Czech lager so I'm strugglin' a bit. Anyways point I want to put over was the pace the game was played at and if we weren't a youngish side that seem to be super fit then we could so easily have been caught. Full credit then to Cairney, Ballatoni & Archie (probably Rowser too) who could so easily have been run roughshod due to that pace.
  17. That makes the price they charge for a 25ml of whisky laughable. I had to double check but it is £2.80 a nip! That equates to £3.92 for a 35ml. I'm fairly sure a 35ml in the S & G is £1.45. I fully understand how the AS can't compete with local pubs but charging well over two & a half times for a spirit is nonsense.
  18. Ami's e mail mentions nearly 100 sold already and they'll be on sale tomorrow night.
  19. Seems you can still rattle our biscuit tin HERE
  20. From small acorns. In fact it might well be better starting small finding its feet and growing thru its own success. A club that starts with some massive sign me up campaign with folk joining en masse could easily bring its own problems,
  21. Was Craig Ferguson ever a regular at Firhill prior to his mega fame?
  22. Certainly the first I knew about it was thru the e-mailshot
