  1. Totally shambolic. But ultimately not surprising
  2. Agree with the posts above. Last two performances in particular were much better. A win on Saturday looks pretty crucial though
  3. Thistle played well in first half but somewhat unsurprisingly failed to get in front by missing two excellent chances. Points definitely there for the taking but it looks a grim league table right now with Alloa and QoS winning
  4. Positive is clean sheet and QoS rarely looked like scoring though any glimmer of a chance for them usually resulted from Oware clumsiness. He really doesn’t add anything to the team but don’t think McCall has it in him to drop him. more creativity required though unfortunately don’t see where it’s coming from.
  5. There were two smoke canisters used, one thrown from the stand after the opening goal and the second set off in the concourse of the JH stand at half time
  6. Penrice and banzo played next to no part in our relegation season. Archie is back in a different role, Gerry has been chief exec only since we were in the championship.
  7. Except how many of the current starting eleven have played in all three seasons? Not one that I can think of. The problem is that confidence is low and fragile and the huge turnover of players and staff has made it difficult to build any sort of momentum
  8. Think bannigan gets a lot of unfair criticism. Yes he has made mistakes and yes he probably isn’t the same player as he was, however he’s also been surrounded by a shower of absolute dross over the last two years in a very unsettled team. He never hides. I’ve seen every home game over the last two seasons and plenty away too. He is most definitely not the problem. I actually do think however that he probably should have moved on- for his own sake given the level of stick he takes from our support.
  9. The only hope we have of staying up is that Rudden gets fit quickly and Is on fire from minute one. Beyond that we are gone a giant front three of Graham Mansell and Rudden may also improve our chances of defending a corner...actually no fox would still be stuck on his line
  10. As others have said O’ware is absolutely hopeless, although sadly he’s not the only one. A shower of losers
  11. Britton can’t be blamed for the 17/18 relegation season- that was maxwell’s bag. I don’t think he was responsible for the firing of Archie or the hiring of Caldwell either to be honest- he answers to the board
  12. Didn’t say they were blameless, just perhaps a bit more capable than sometimes is credited
  13. Just under three years ago I sat in pretty much the same seat at Dens and watched a good thistle team comfortably beat Dundee and take a big step toward the top six. The difference between that team and today’s is incredible and makes it all the harder to take. however I don’t really buy the cronyism stuff- a couple of the folks still involved now were responsible for the building of the top six side. we are a small club with limited resources. Our ability to attract staff is therefore also limited. McCall is a decent manager for this level and he needs time but on the basis of the first few outings of his new team, some of his decisions seem questionable. We just don’t create enough chances to win games. Got to hope Rudden gets fit quickly and makes a big impact, otherwise seaside leagues here we come..
  14. Barjonas in particular- why oh why? He’s honking. Must have been an attempt to balance the books after the signings of Graham, Brownlie etc take a cheap loanee and let slater go
  15. McCall has not addressed the problems that were evident before the window. The defence is a shambles, we don’t create many chances and we have no fight. I think we’ll go down
  16. Way too early to judge Rudden. Looking forward to seeing what he can do over the coming weeks
  17. As some have said already, feel quite flat after that. Thought thistle looked solid in the first half and zanatta and penrice caused trouble down the left without creating too many clear cut chances. When zanatta went off and we went with two up front we started to play long balls without much joy. thought the new right back on loan from Celtic looked decent, less sure about Barjonas although to be fair he only had about 25 mins on the pitch. Cole was disappointing and mackinnon looks as though he will only ever be able to play as part of three man midfield. ayr were pretty cynical and the referee was soft, their number 30 should have been in the book long before he was. the league table does not look good and I think we have a big fight on our hands to stay in the league
  18. Shankland is full of confidence and sharp as a tack. Be good to mark him at corners, not back off as he runs at goal for forty yards or leave him in acres of space at the edge of the box....oops. Our centre halves are woeful- they didn’t even compete. On that showing not convinced at all that o’ware is anywhere near captain material- head went down way too easily. kenny Miller is the complete antithesis of shankland- old, slow, unable to finish, a negative influence- actually shite just sums him up better. As for robson - a complete oddity but never a footballer
  19. Yes, he was named. GC was getting stick for envelopegate, and was quite bitter about the negativity given that thistle then pumped QoS in the following match. He thought he was making the point that despite none of the other players including him, he chose to pick Mansell and he scored. therefore it was not the players picking the team but rather good management by him and the exercise had been some kind of motivational master stroke. whatever you think it says about Caldwell - and I would agree- unfortunately it also says a lot about Mansell...
  20. Mansell too if it can be done. GC on off the ball saying no player picked him in their favoured team for match against QoS end of last season- says it all
  21. Harkins, Miller, cardle, robson, hall, Austin can go for starters
  22. McGowan might have scored the goal but he wasnt a standout for me. Meekings bullied jones for the most part. wasn’t particularly impressed by Hemmings, fox made at least two brilliant saves from Dorrans. Other than zanatta zero attacking options on the bench. If Austin is not worth ten minutes before harkins then he must be poor. Roll on the transfer window
