  1. To say the least it's all vey murky with Dundee. Think we have to be just a bit wary in lining up totally behind Sevco. That said they are right in calling for an enquiry.
  2. Agree totally, the ICT chair spoke well, basically he said that he couldn't vote for a resolution that punished other clubs. Crucially he made the point that the decision to finalise the league places now was being conflated with the cash pay-outs and although ICT and others had questioned Doncaster et al as to why this was necessary they didn't get an answer. Dundee have a lot of explaining to do but they gone to ground. Sevco have had an with the SPFL for years and who knows how genuine the reference to a "whistle-blower" is but that doesn't invalidate the points they raise. As mentioned, the Forfar chair totally contracted himself, started by saying that finances weren't an issues, £3,700 of no significance and then goes on to mention that he looks forward to the big travelling support from Thistle and others and the circa £100K generated. I think he may come to regret his comments.
  3. I'd pretty much given up posting on the forum as I couldn't bothered getting into petty spats with people (life is too short) but more on grounds that there are more important issues like Brexit (still to play out) and the climate crisis. It's a bit surprising that one or two are posting humorous images (each to their own) or others can be so fixated with league structures etc. The World Health Organisation and 229 scientists have questioned the UK Govt strategy which relies on the herd immunity approach whereby millions will have to be infected to, the theory goes, protect everyone in the medium to longer term. One big gamble from a Government which, as other posters have pointed out, is at odds with the approach of many other countries. The same government (Cummings/Patel/ Gove/Johnston et al) that have dismissed the views of recognised experts and just recently waged war against the civil service that they now desperately relying on. So may well be talking about tens and quite possibly hundreds of thousands of people perishing. Factor in the huge economic cost, destitution, and perhaps social breakdown on the streets...…. Sorry to be so miserable, perhaps if there is something good to come out of this will be that everyone has a chance to reflect on what is important in life, foster a sense of community which has gone by the way-side in modern life and look out for the vulnerable in society after 10 years of austerity. Lastly, I'm sure out football club will survive because we will rally round and won't let it sink. Take care everyone.
  4. Raith's shirt sponsor is Val McDermid but it was our defence that was criminal and the game was murder to watch.
  5. Robbie N before GC was appointed that is.
  6. I wonder if it all hinged on the Ayr game, had the 2 sendings off been avoided then it looked like we would have won and that might have given something to build on. If I recall rightly we might have bagged the now Dundee Utd manager. Still that's all academic now. Interesting to see how the posters on this forum as parochial as supporters of other clubs, is it really crucial that there is a Thistle connection? Someone who meets the criteria is what matters. Stevie Clarke was a left-field choice for Killie and I don't think had a Killie connection.
  7. Potentially an effective partnership down the left side with Penrice, James likes to get in to the forward areas so I wonder if he will now play a more defensive game?
  8. Apart from anything else, the essence of the divide is how the supporters of the 2 cheeks of the one arse view the political situation in Ireland, one lot want the status quo for NI, the other a united Ireland. Apart from anything else the P and Q are symbols but are only a rough measure of who supports who. We can't afford to alienate current and potential supporters and yeah sadly the authorities will continue to dodge punishing the OF however time to consign this song to the dustbin of history.
  9. I though the lad was a stand-out for Alloa when we played them so happy with this signing. Good to have reinforcements given we are still in 5 competitions.
  10. When Billy Dodds was Dodds was talking us up at 2-0 I started to worry, he's like a daft wee boy, mind you one or two on this site with their in game comments knee jerk responses to goals are infantile as Dodds. Kenny Miler far from the worst although his cheating dive in the first half was a red neck. Sadly Banzo no longer has 90 minutes in him.
  11. What was the one man pitch invasion all about? baldy guy with specs gesticulates towards the CW stand.
  12. Didn't travel through today and having read the match reports together with the train cancellation it clearly wasn't an awayday to remember. Were the pitch dimensions same as last season?
  13. Btw for anyone who couldn't make it, the usual farce with turnstiles but worse as the gate near the Accies main stand wasn't opened. Looking like we'd miss about the first 15-20 mins and maybe they got hacked off with the complaints to stewards but for whatever reason they let us in without paying so they lost a bit of income, numpties. Pretty sure the Thistle support was announced as 1,000.
  14. I feel conflicted about it, football is a brutal environment and sentiment has at times hampered progress at our club via over-loyalty and others plus at the national level. That said who listening to Dools on the radio doesn't feel gutted for Kris and it's a shame how it all ended, at least he will have options. I'm prepared to give GC a chance, he's not the kind of individual that fans easily warm to but let's see how things pan out. For those who are now chucking it, 2 questions: 1 What do you hope to achieve by not renewing a season ticket/paying at the gate? 2 Should we all chuck it and if we do then with the resultant drain of financial income for the club how would that improve things?
  15. great photos especially the final one with the players and fans after Banzo's penalty.
  16. Neither like or loathe, ok he can come across as an arrogant/distant and some of the tactical decisions in games have been baffling however the recent form has been impressive. Most football punters will say that a manager needs two transfer windows to really stamp their authority and another change in leadership will presumably result in another financial pay-off for the club so on balance I'd leave things as they are with the hope for better things next season. Top day out, the "we park where we want" chant was a classic and a word for the QoS fans after the game, they must have been hurting but still magnanimous for all that and for that good luck to them in the play-offs.
  17. I think Goodwin is a decent bloke so not so too bothered about what he says but I'd be glad to never see another game on the Subbuteo pitch. Was the away support announced, I'm guessing circa 1200/1300?
  18. The narrow plastic pitch is a joke, I hope that mob go down just because of that set-up they have, it's anti-football. Still, that and a cancelled train couldn't spoil a good day and two fantastic goals. It was, ahem, lively on the journey back to Queen Street with a delay at Stirling when the Polis paid a visit...
  19. haha good one. Best establishment to sup an IPA?
  20. The best league away-day (Ayr) has to be re-scheduled which is bad enough and the "pay-off" is a SC quarter final on a Monday night on BBC, fekn pants.
  21. Long time since I was there. Any recommendations for a pre-match pint?
  22. Fair enough in trying something new with the training regime but I don't think the club should have invited the media to turn up, about as baffling as the plan to hold a televised Brexit debate next weekend. Anyway we don't need the army to illustrate how the team can be rag-dolled.
  23. Could have been more than 1-0. Maybe Robinson was getting it from the away support but the get it up yeez gesture reflects badly on the keeper and contrast with Craigen who applauded the Jags support, good lad James.
  24. B-Boys, thanks for highlighting this issue, my reaction was along similar lines. Sadly your well expressed attempt to question the morality of the initiative was pretty much shot down in flames by the mob...…..interesting to see how the counter-argument is almost always framed in terms of.....aye but what about this or what about that or interference from the (so-called) nanny state. Yes, Scottish football does prostitute itself to the bookies and drinks companies but the crucial element here is that it's all about an arrangement directed specifically at the hearts and minds of impressionable kids. I suppose it comes down to what you aspire for the country although how you define country is another question and at the risk of another flegs debate......
  25. Starting too calm down a wee bit but still really hacked off. The most positive outlook is that it's just day 1 in the league, it surely can't get worse, there will be a generous pay-day against the sellick and some fantastic new additions are imminent...… However that might only be happening in a parallel universe.
