Had wander down today.  Small exhibit but interesting all the same.  Not from Maryhill but I always like seeing old pics.  Footie related pic below.   I was 2 so game a blur (although I read match was not actually played on this date) .  Maybe one for @Auld Jag to remember (just kidding 😇)

Just to clarify for anyone not as old as me.Slightly misleading to refer to "The Opening of Lochburn Park" in July 1973. Lochburn was there long before that. I know because I played there for Dunard Street School in a Schools competition in the early 1950's!

Not much about Thistle in it but some footage of Maryhill Juniors and loads of pubs which are no longer there.

Wish you hudnae said that!  Don't think I'll sleep tonight thinking about that since I was born in a Maryhill Road tenement about 20 yards up from Mason's Bar, previously known as The 419 Bar and prior to that as MacLachlan's (no' sure aboot the spelling).

I spotted only yesterday a statement made at the time of setting the cup final date that the SWPL said "the final will be played on Saturday 23rd or Sunday 24th  March"!

So although common sense has prevailed credit should be given to the SWPL for allowing themselves the scope to be flexible.

Well done to all concerned including Hearts and Rangers FC.

    C'mon the Jags!

Sorry to disagree. As i said earlier in this thread, in mid December they categorically stated "we are pleased to confirm we have agreed a slot with Sky Sports for Saturday 23 March with a 3.00 kick-off". Now they are "pleased to confirm after consultations with key stakeholders that the Final will take place on Sunday 24 March at 1.30".

I think the credit for this is probably primarily due to the. efforts of Beth Adamson, the PTWFC secretary.

  4. As always - pleased by all that the Archive provides. However I am increasingly irritated that the official PTFC website does not provide Youth team or Reserves results despite having available links under "Fixtures".

  5. At the time of the semi-final draw (after the quarter-finals of 12 November) the SWPL stated that the final would take place on the weekend of 23rd/24th March. Subsequent to that, in mid December, they announced that "they had agreed a slot with Sky Sports for the final to be played on Saturday 23rd March with a 3.00 p.m. kick-off". So they, I presume, in agreeing that slot, knew that there was a possibility of a participating club's Men's team having a fixture at the exact same time. The SWPL managing director is quoted in that announcement as saying "that we hope it will encourage a strong attendance, and that it is ideal for local and travelling fans at that time of year".

Bottom line - we're no' supposed tae be there.

  6. On the 23rd March there are are no Premiership fixtures. So obviously they chose that date for the final because, there's only gonnae be "big" teams involved (they thought). No doubt live TV will be involved, but "tae hell wae the rest of the SPFL". The final is 2 months away so there's plenty of time to reschedule (if they so desire).

One other question I have is why Tynecastle as the venue? I know it can't be Hampden because we have an important (?) friendly international on the Tuesday. When exactly did they decide the venue? Maybe somebody close to the women's game can tell me when did Hearts get knocked out, and by whom?

What are the chances of all the 7 non-premier league teams avoiding each other ?

In a totally random draw I reckon the odds against must be exceedingly high. However -

"Now Christian this is how it'll work. Ye've got 16 baws - 9 hoat and 7 cauld. Aw ye need tae remember is if a hoat wan comes oot first, the next wan's goat tae be cauld. The other way roon's awright. Jist make sure ye don't dae 2 hoat or 2 cauld the gither. Come the end ye'll hiv 2 hoat fur the last gemme. Goat it? Noo we'll hae a few rehearsals jist tae make sure afore we turn oan the camera."

I'm  with the above. Lose in the 5th round and the exit award is £47,250, excluding tv cash.

Get to the 6th round, and the exit fee more than doubles to £102,000.

That sort of cash should  make even JJ happy.   😇

Thanks for the info, but where can it be found? I tried the SFA site earlier but couldn't find it!

Who do you want in draw and also whom will we get instead guesses?

    Want.  Broomhill (home)

    Will Get. Ross County (away)

Accept the "want". The pessimist in me worries that the "get" will be Hearts, meaning that Lewis Neilson can't play!

  10. I stand corrected (partially).

In my defence I would point out that I access what I want by going directly to "Scores and  Fixtures". Having done so I click on any game that interests me for a report (e.g. for Thistle games). I do not access by opening "Football" , then searching for Scottish football particularly.

The fact that a report is available only underlines my annoyance that it is not linked to the match result under "Scores and Fixtures".

Except there was a report on the BBC Sport website last night.

The game finished at approximateky 9.00 p.m BST. I checked at approximately 2.30 a.m. BST.

Are you saying that sometime in that five and a half hour period there was a report, then there wasn't?

    Because there still ain't!

  12. Woke up Saturday, went online to the BBC website to get the score against Hungary. Happy to see 3 - 1 win, clicked for a report - NADA, despite having a report of England's game against Sebia on Thursday. (BRITISH B C?)

Then went on to the Scottish Sun and was happy to see a report by someone called David Robson. Only problem, the report contained the following phrases - "shined at Firhill" "Partick Thistle's home turf" "put on a show in Maryhill" "packed Firhill crowd" "man of the match at Firhill". Begs the question of the reporter "Were you at the game"? The game took place in Motherwell!
