  1. Just back from holiday so apologies if this prospect has been already touted....... Has there been any suggestion that the SPL and SFL may have agreed to form SPL 2 and invite nine current 1st division Clubs to join Newco in this league? Haven't had time to read through all the posts over the past couple of weeks over this matter and wasn't really interested in what happened to Rangers either way to be honest. However, it strikes me that the problem is there would be a danger of the SFL Clubs rejecting Rangers bid to join the 1st division, but this could be avoided by inviting the 1st division Clubs into the new SPL2 where the SPL make the rules and invite whoever they wish (including Rangers)? I think it would be very difficult for 9 current 1st division Clubs to refuse a decent offer to join SPL 2 and the more I think about it, it would fit perfectly what the SPL would like and with the promise of what most 1st Division Clubs would like. Rangers would be demoted to the very bottom of the SPL League Structure (SPL 2) and the current 2nd and 3rd division Clubs wouldn't get a say. If this were to be what is suggested and Thistle stood to benefit from it greatly, would we still have the same objections to us joining them in their league as we have to them joining us in ours?
  2. Fined by the SFA. Banned from transfers. Craig (I don't care!) Whyte fined and banned for life from any involvement in Scottish football. How do you feel? Is it:- Tee! Hee! Rangers brought that conman into Scottish football - they are reaping what they have sown. Or:- do you have some sympathy for the Gers fans - watching helplessly as their club does a very good impersonation of the Titanic? Now, class, discuss..............................

  4. Maximum respect. Read that and hang your head in shame, Beattie. The Club has received a set of papers in advance of the SFL meeting on Tuesday. The essential intent behind those papers is to induce the SFL clubs to agree a proposal to allow a Newco to enter the SFL in the 1st Division in exchange for a range of structural changes to the current set up and some small financial inducements. Some of the proposed changes have merit in principle. The Board believe that any proposals for change should not be rushed, as these have been. They also have to be done by consensus and not through threat or inducement, again, as these have been. The papers include a proposal to allow a Newco to enter the 1st Division. This is contrary to the rules of the SFL and nothing within the papers justifies this proposal. As a club owned by its supporters and recovering from having been on the brink of extinction, the Board of Clyde Football Club recognise the damage done to the credibility of Rangers Football Club by its successive owners, and the subsequent impact on staff and supporters. These proposals do nothing to restore that credibility. It is not for us to become involved in punishment, that is a matter for the SPL and SFA. The SFL clubs are being asked to change their rules so that the SPL and SFA can apply sanctions that fit short term financial interests. It is not for us to tell any club what they should want for themselves, but to enter anywhere other than the 3rd Division risks Rangers Football Club being burdened with the legacy of commencing its rebuilding in a manner that they later look back on with regret. Rangers Football Club does not need to be handed a competitive advantage, they are more than capable of returning to the SPL via the 3rd Division on their own merit. Rebuilding from the bottom can restore the dignity stripped from the club by its former owners. The papers use emotive language to threaten a future of financial meltdown and they carry the implication of the destruction of the game should a Newco not be entered in the 1st Division. If things are as bad as indicated then Scottish Football is in a far worse state than is being acknowledged. In which case it is time to accept the bankrupt model needs fixed and not supported and perpetuated on the back of this proposal. The fact that other clubs might face similar financial distress because Rangers Football Club enter the 3rd Division is hardly a reason to compromise the integrity of the SFL and further compromise Rangers Football Club. Rather than attempting to prepare a soft landing before delivering sanctions, it would be better to contemplate more radical change that might actually underpin financial stability in the long term for clubs that balance their books. Perhaps an amnesty from sanctions for clubs that are forced to face insolvency procedures in the next 2 years as a result of the current turmoil, and an automatic entry to the 3rd Division for any club liquidated and reformed in similar circumstances. This would allow 2 years to properly restructure the Scottish Game for the benefit of all and undo the damage that has been created by the current structure which encourages club directors to trade integrity for cash, and then spend beyond their means, willingly risking the very existence of football clubs. If we could believe that the game could be less self interested long enough to resolve this, then this, and other far better ideas, might be worth contemplating. SPL clubs that have openly stated their opposition to a Newco being given immediate access to the SPL have taken the position based on their, and at times, their supporters' view of what is the right thing to do, however, the vote has still to be taken and proposals such as these are premature. If the SPL clubs vote as indicated on the basis of the increasingly discredited notion of sporting integrity, it would be questionable if the SFL clubs did otherwise. The reality is that we are faced with unique circumstances and it would be foolish to pretend otherwise, that probably means that compromise for some is inevitable, and perhaps even worthwhile for everyone in the long term. The solution however is not this hastily cobbled together proposal. The Board of this club sees no merit whatsoever in adopting this proposal.
  5. Hi All, Have read about as much of this as my brain can cope with over the last few weeks and cannot I believe how much my beloved club has been dragged into the mire by the joke that was RFC ! I owe Dumfermline Jag an apology for my response to a post last week where I questioned his position over buying a season book given the possibility Newco could be in our league. I asked him to get a grip ! I would never have forseen the events over the subsequent days. Dumfermline Jag what are your lottery numbers lol ? Since then, it would seem our directors / custodians of our famous and much loved club have gone from being well respected custodians to the enemy within 7 days. I feel the directors have made a rod for their own back so to speak. They have in my opinion spoken before it being necessary to speak on this issue. They have followed that up with statements which did not clarify their position, to then following much fan pressure and other clubs showing their hand to make a third and pointless statement which said nothing. I feel that the directors have made a great error of judgement and due to their statement, will now find it very difficult to back down from their lets wait and see status. I am a season ticket holder and also a shirt sponsor and I have paid all up front in the belief that it was the best for my club. I like many others, will not have a chance due to other commitments to make proper value of my season book. We buy a season book due to the love / affection we hold for the great institution that is PTFC. We do not expect to be treated as fellow custodians of the club to be left in the dark as we are currently. Newco is not an option . END OF ! Mr Beattie please rise above your entrenched position and show the leadership for us to be a club who are a fore runner of future developments and not a club wallowing in the wake of missed opportunities. I like others will unfortunately, given the directors stance request a refund on both my season book and sponsorship should this situation not be clarified immediately. Dave Mackie. 44 years old 37 years supporting the best team in Glasgow !
  6. There are strongly held views on the current proposals ,most of them discuss the concept of Sporting Integrity so in order to hopefully open up the debate, its maybe worth looking at what we would like to see for our Club and Scottish Football going forward. Now much has been said about the concept of "Sporting Integrity" which is all very Corinthian however I have argued long before Newco that Im uncomfortable as a Thistle Fan standing in judgement - its a simple fact that during save the Jags we had a CVA -from memory we paid our Creditors 40 p in the £ ( we had to pay our Football debts 100% thats the SFA rules). Over the next few years we ran up a bill with HMRC of circa £230K - we then hit a cashflow crisis which was only solved when the current Directors stepped in. On two occasions in our recent History we have faced the possibility of adminstration - Companies have funded the excess of PTFC decisions - not the Directors who took the decisions - external Companies - many of them small businesses . Rangers and PTFC are different for one single reason ,our Creditors agreed a CVA theirs did not- thats it ,the difference in Sporting Integrity is approx 32 p in the £ in a CVA offer. Most people think Newco should enter Div 3 ,fair enough -but reality is we are discussing what level not if they should enter - Div 3 or Div 1 it makes no difference to PTFC - they enter Div 3 they walk the leagues back in SPL in three Seasons - being honest who cares. I have in various guises been responsible for putting bums on seats ,it gets harder by the year - simple reason ,nothing to play for - last Season four Clubs chasing second spot - no one cared ,flip that to a play off it becomes a completley different Season. So in short I dont accept that we have the moral upper ground ,I dont care one single jot where SEVCO play - I have not spoken to one single Rangers Fan who thinks they should play in Div 1 -nor do I care about increasing "Jackies Budget" I do however care about the long term future of PTFC - currently 50% of our Season Ticket holders are over 50 ( 25% over 65) Kids go Free has failed ,we are not a Family Club ,nor are we a Community Club - we are a Club slowly dying. If we want a Club we can be proud of not the irrelevance we have become we need to look at our future ,we cannot survive in the long term ,sure there will be a team called PTFC but a part time group of boys - not a viable Club with ambition. So if Fans demand we vote no due to "Sporting Integrity" then please remember we have 32 p in the £ greater integrity than Rangers - we dont get play offs we will be irrelevant in five years anyway. For the record these are not the views of onethistle nor the Club ,I currently do not know the Club views on Newco - they are the views of someone who is tired of our Club tearing itself apart ,first we had the Old Gaurd we get our finances under control - now we have Newco - big Newsflash I have three kids - none of them go to see PTFC ,in five years time 25% of our support will struggle to walk up South Drive as they will be over 70 and no one is replacing them.We couldnt get 2000 Jags Fans in the JHS for the whole of last Season. So lets have your views ,what would be the minimium you would expect to let Newco into Div 1 - if its no chance fair enough. Jim Alexander
  7. Apologies if this is in one of the other threads (had a quick look and did not see it) but the document that was sent to the 30 SFL clubs has been "leaked". http://sport.stv.tv/...first-division/ There are so many things wrong in that document that I just don't know where to begin!
  8. Hang your head in shame PTFC. Tonight all Raith Rovers Falkirk and Morton fans must be proud of their clubs for standing up to the bullies.
  9. Simple post that I hope someone at the club looks at. Tell us the fans what OUR club stance is on the newco. NOT ON TUESDAY BUT NOW. WE MUST STAND SIDE BY SIDE WITH RAITH, MORTON AND FALKIRK. WHY WAIT? TELL US NOW
  10. What then? Even if Thistle vote against it, it could still happen. I think that the clubs that oppose it could make a very strong point... Let's face it, the only reason that they would be in Div 1 is because the SPL want them back ASAP and expect them to win the league. Let's give them that. Immediately after KO against Newco is every game, the opposition should just walk off. 3-0 Newco - everybody is happy. It would highlight the farcical sense of 'competition'. Only problem with this is the fans who turned up would be out of pocket (I mean Div 1 fans - don't care about Newco fans). The other thing, is for ALL Div 1 fans to walk out at some point (maybe with 12 mins to go - Club 12 and all that) - I honestly think that with the current level of anger around that this would result in total walkout - again, would highlight the nonsense. I don't want to damage Thistle but we need to show the ridiculous nature of these measures - if they want our game to be a farce, let's give them one.
  11. Given the strength of opposition to Newco being admitted to the SFL First Division or even Divisions 2 and 3, it would make sense for the fans of all clubs to campaign together. Joint action could include - website with petition(s), polls, blog, donations, merchandise selling etc - paper petitions - demonstrations at the offices of the SFL and SFA - letter writing to the media (joint and individual signatories) I am sure that others will have more ideas. The main point is that collective and co-operative action is likely to attract more support and publicity. The bigger the support, the greater the pressure on the SFL and club boards to say no to Newco. Someone has to take the initiative and form an organising committee, ideally made up of fans and directors of clubs that are opposed to Newco being parachuted into the SFL or a restructured league set-up. Your opinions and ideas please!
  12. Dear Chairmen of all other football clubs in Scotland, We have decided that we will field 14 players in games because we feel like it. If you try to punish us just because it's against the rules, then we will boycott you and then your club will die and then Scottish football will die and it will be your fault. And we also want your gate money. thanks Deluded Mentalists FC
