In summary, umpteen damn good reasons why we (the UK) should lament the hideous faux pas we committed by voting in this disgraceful collection of rapscallions and get out there and join a Trade Union, working towards the defence of our standards of living and all that goes with that.

what and vote in the party that never reversed thatchers anti trade union laws when they were in for over ten years. no thanks. all politicians are jokers. people should listen to crass and read backunin.

Unite: Approx 2-3% of subscription goes to Unite's Political Fund on Default Opt out basis (Elected Regional Committees vote on what percentage of that tiny percentage deducted from subscriptions if any goes to LP), with opt-out forms now available from all workplace reps.

There we are - what a carve-up. Considering the Trade Unions gave birth to the Labour Party, I think we can safely put to bed the Tory-led myth that "countless" Trade Union members are having their subscriptions raped by fat-cat General Secretaries to corruptly fund the political wing of their own official movement.

By comparison, we have a Tory Party shrouded in mysticism over many of the sources of its income; shady, grubby, tax-dodging billionaires craving further privatisation of public services, negligible tax rates for their decadent ilk and patronage for them and their sort.

For the record, nothing has displeased me more - Thistle post-Lambie included - than the hijacking of my party by the Tory-in-Labour-clothing, Blair. I hold that maggot in the same level of esteem as his bestial heroine, Thatcher. I despise that alleged human for the degradation and humiliation that he imposed upon hundreds of thousands of good, decent, hard-working activists. The contempt with which he and his fetid successor, Brown - himself another acolyte of Thatcher - and the clones which they sprinkled over the party, in the shape of Milliballs, are held cannot be quantified.

The Labour Party has a solid tradition with many achievements to be proud of, but languishes in the shame bestowed upon it by Tory Blair and his Trojan horse full of neo-Thatcherites. However, because of its history, its Trade Union heritage and its organic anti-privilege ethos it will come good again and re-establish its credentials as the only option for working class people who live for an end to inequality, patronage and discrimination.

The end.

if that was the case then you would never be out of power and would have got in power straight after the coal mining farce.

i am working class and would never ever think of joining labour because i want what i earn to go to me and not to some pond life who does not want to work ( and before anyone jumps in i donet mean those that legitamly cant work or get work) and there are plenty out there.

what you ask for would be great Blackpool Jags but greed (and includes those that scrounge off the system ) means it will never happen.

You make reasonable points there, JB, but ones which I simply disagree with. No problem with that. :thumbsup2:

Thanks for clearing that up BJ.

For the record, I am in no place to say anything about the funding of any other political parties after the disgraceful decision by the SNP to accept money from that vile homophobic bigot Brian Soutar.

I'd love to see an independent Scotland which embraced TRUE socialist values .

Try and deny it as they do, the Tories cuts are hitting the poorest families the hardest, according to the Institute of Fiscal Studies. The IFS said the poorest 10% of families would lose over 5% of their income as a result of the budget compared with a loss of less than 1% for non-pensioner households without children in the richest 10% of households. It added that the budget contrasted with the "progressive" plans for 2010-14 inherited from Labour, under which the richest 10% of households bore the brunt of the cuts.

The IFS said: "Low-income households of working age lose the most as a proportion of income from the tax and benefit reforms announced in the emergency budget. Those who lose the least are households of working age without children in the upper half of the income distribution. They do not lose out from cuts in welfare spending, and they are the biggest beneficiaries from the increase in the income tax personal allowance."

Scandalous, but inevitable from a party whose core philosophy is to let the markets decide everything.

How come these "hundreds of thousands of good, decent, hard-working activists" need to piss and moan about the handouts they should get rather than making their own way in the world? Why are they encouraging the selfish continuation - nay, growth - of world poverty for their own selfish, can't be arsed trying hard, ways? What's the attitude? "**** Indians/Africans/Asians who are willing to work really hard to make a better life for themselves and their children, and **** the UK consumer who wants their hard earned money to go as far as possible - we want protected jobs and good salaries and early retirement and generous benefits and if that means everyone that's not us suffers then so be it. They should join a union and do the same thing. And we can all screw each other in one big socialist gangbang"

Makes me sick.

I've read that about four times now and still can't make head nor tail of it. There's quite a lot of unqualified accusations in there which I can't even begin to fathom. Hardworking activists wanting handouts? The selfish continuation of world poverty? ****Indians/Africans/Asians? There's a lot of anger there but I'm not entirely sure of your point. But if anything it sounds like you don't like Capitalism. Me neither. I think it's a morning for not understanding your posts MP!

Interesting that the Labour policies so reviled by some on here have been responsible for the strong performance of the UK economy in the 2nd qtr of 2010.

Worth pointing out that it was mostly short-term measures in the construction industry, and that other parts of the economy contracted quite rapidly, such as transport by (IIRC) 11%. Construction projects will always inflate growth figures because of their consequentials, but don't form the foundations of a wider and more sustainable recovery.

 Wow. Some post that, and I agree - it looks like you are coming down with something. A wee lie down might do the trick. Failing that, a visit to the GP is a must. Good luck. :thumbsup2:
