New Kits For Next Season

Yellow & Redneck

I was six years old and unfortunately not at the game in 71,and I most certainly would not decry what was a magnificent achievement.I have however watched clips of the game several times over the years and my main gripe when ever there is media coverage of this event ,is that we are not wearing red and yellow stripes or hoops which most people would identify us with.Instead we are wearing a strip that I personally would associate with Albion Rovers.Unfortunately with us having had success while wearing this strip and a similar effort during our recent championship win , I fear this horrendous strip will no doubt pop again.

When we changed from the hoops to the yellow shirt and red shorts in 1970, it was regarded as part of the fresh modern image of the club with a the new young manager in David McParland and a batch of youngsters in the side with glamour boys like Alan Rough & John Gibson. The side had been relegated playing in hoops...that was a rugby strip...it was the football equivalent at the time of short back & sides, shirt & tie (square) to long hair and flairs (hip)...and wearing the yellow top/red shorts coincided with the most exciting time in the club's history.

We were so cool that the mighty Albion Rovers changed their strip in 1973 to match the yellow shirt and red shorts.

I actually prefer the broad red & yellow stripes/black shorts we changed to in the mid 70's...and have a retro affection for the hoops...I didn't like the recent strip which was mainly yellow with thin red stripes even though we wore it when we were promoted again.

We have bright and distinctive club colours - it should be an ideal opportunity for sharp designs for strips and training gear but a lot of our strips have looked garish.

I've no real connection to the 1971 strip - it was out 8 years before I was born

Bear in mind that the first time i ever saw the jags- this was the kit - http://image.wikifou...1819/GW1102H816

Imagine how that melted my brain - do we always wear a red yoke??? Is the Colonel Gees thing always there???? eh???? Do we always have a vertical stripe on the thigh of the tiny shorts????!!!???

others teams have gone back to basics. Aberdeen have the new old badge - http://pictures.foot.../4/834120-1.jpg

Brendan Rodgers brought back the Liverpool crest - http://d.ibtimes.co....13-home-kit.jpg

AND the red goal nets - http://cdn.c.photosh...-Leverkusen.jpg

other teams have gone retro - Southampton - http://images.footba...orne/107526.jpg

The Sellik - http://cdn.football-...eltic_third.jpg AND http://www1.pictures...zksTD1Jl_nl.jpg

Yon Sevco mob - http://static0.demot...-30_1697935.jpg

AND http://www.just-foot...Kit-2010-11.jpg

Our kit should be a good seller - even to those who are neutral. I bought last seasons strip with names and numbers for me and my two kids. This season, the wife was saying that theres no point buying a kit as its so similar to last season - she had a point and so Santa brought Scotland kit

A version of the simple 70s kit would be different, unique, get people talking and get people buying

Goddam Killie had a star on their badge at one point !!!!!?????

it will make or break us, cos we've got to buy the best ...............................................

Because our colours are red & yellow, not red, yellow & black? Black isn't even our normal tertiary colour. Sure we've had white shorts more than black in our history. We've had white away shirts, sky blue away shirts, we played in navy blue for a long time. Black away shirts I don't think are that common - no more than purple or pink.

Anyway, we're red AND yellow, not wont nother. I agree with macca that just because we won a cup in a yellow shirt a squillion years ago (the seventies, that great decade of fashion, natch), doesn't mean we should keep returning to it.

Unbroken hoops or stripes, please and a collar that's actually a collar.

I actually think we are fleecing the fans by changing the home shirt every season.

Just because other clubs do it doesn't mean it's ok.

I also prefer vertical stripes to hoops but we've had some great hooped shirts over the years.

Not a massive fan of this year's striped shirt and would like to see us return to broader stripes.

I don't particularly like the full yellow top kit, so wouldn't be too keen to see a return of that and I certainly wouldn't buy it. I also prefer hoops to stripes generally, and this is by far my favourite kit of recent times...

We should go for something very different for our away kit as well, with maybe a touch of red and yellow in there, or a return to this would be most welcome for me.

ETA: Agree that our current badge is pretty bad, but also didn't like the Stealth Bomber badge all that much either. Found this the other day and think it would be an absolute belter for us if we were allowed to use it, although in light of the heraldic nonsense going on with Lord Lyon and Airdrie I doubt that, as well as it having the Glasgow coat of arms which I'm not sure would be allowed.

The Puma shirts were spectacularly ill-fitting. It was like wearing a bin bag.

Was literally just about to say that. You can see how badly fitted they were when you look at the picture of Ricky Little and Gary Harkins modelling it.

I love the Fort Lauderdale Strikers effort. One of the better Joma kits, and a great design for us.
