North Stand Young Team

Reckon this deserves a thread on it's own.

On Saturday we saw the emergence of a new singing section in the North Stand and I was really impressed with them.

For the last few seasons, young Manpreet has been coming along to our section at half time, having a chat about the game and the atmosphere. He's attended a few meetings with the Board as a representative of the young fans and isnt intimidated to share his opinion with those attending.

His enthusiasm is fantastic. This is a lad who had no family connecting him to supporting Thistle and started coming on the back of Kids Go Free.

On Saturday there was 70 I'm told,in their group, all about 14 through to 18 years old. Apparently they had about 15 attending their first Jags game!

Outstanding numbers, great flags and non stop singing. I'll forgive them the drum. For now.

Keep up the great work lads, it's reassuring to know that there's a group of young enthusiastic folk coming through behind us old duffers!

I understood that the north end shed was for singers and not just an annex of the JHS library. I'm even disappointed to read about the criticism over the big drum. I say again check out the FCUM site and see what a singing stand is all about. If your not going to sing please go back a sit in the library. For me it's we're Partick Thistle we've got a big drum"

Liked what I saw. Enthusiasm and youth to bring excitement to the next generation.

On a more boring grown up attitude as long as they don't go ott like other fan groups have done with flares and a bolshy attitude I'll support their efforts as I rustle my sweeties in the JHS.

It is sometimes interesting to crowd watch Scottish games on the telly. Scarily the average age of a large majority of supporters is remarkably high - particularly when you are as old as I am and can remember (just) when football was a young man's game.

Good if we can get, and retain, more youngsters to follow the club.

I think the lads will have to knock the 'hello, hello how do you do' song on the head.

Police moved in quite quickly after they started singing it with what looked like a stern lecture (one boy got led down towards the exit, not sure if he was being escorted out or was just getting a telling off)

anyway at least they brought a bit of enthusiasm on a cold day though they'll have to practice their flag waving technique - lifting them up & waving them when Thistle are attacking the North stand goal did get in your eye-line a bit! Think I'll move 20 yards to the left for the Dundee Utd game..

Fantastic to hear about this, PT. Great to hear that such a big number of youngsters have chosen to give the dark side the cold shoulder and align themselves with the noble Jags culture. And to have a ready-made leader in young Manpreet is the icing on the cake.

Everything about this is good and better (with the possible exception of the big drum thing - although I'll lend it an ear in a couple of weeks).

Monni Young Team - our future as a creed is in your capable hands.

I think its brilliant what there doing, although it would be better if we backed them up and joined in. Keep up the good work.

I watched the Thistle Ultras video from our recent visit to parkheed on youtube, they will just need to watch what they're saying on camera before the group is finished before it even begins.

What's he problem with the drum?

Airdrie were the first lot to come to Firhill with the "****'s *** and **** army" chant as I recall, and it was much frowned upon by the old shed-boys as they kept it going for ages.

Not saying we were the first to coin it furra jags, but I also remember a night at Kilbowie when a pal and I endured serious pelters from some for keeping "Johny Lambie's......" going for a full half.

Now the chant is probably the choir's if-all-else-fails/go-to chant to try and spark a bit of atmosphere and urge the team on.

Anyhoo... I'd rather they had a proper thistle drum than the usual stand wall banging.

"When you here the noise of the Partick Thistle boys......"

Gaun eh yoof! .... Belt it oot.... just don't be wee d*cks... know?

Hope they don,t try to model themselves to much on the Ugly sister Ultras. I saw there Flags got taken by a steward before the St Mirren game which seemed a bit harsh.

But there was a moment when one of the young guys ran on to the pitch at Amoo,s goal and thats euthusiam we don,t really need. I also hope a flare doesn,t appear also.

Do it right young yins and better that the OF mankie mob. Make us proud to be a Jags Fan.
