I know County fans that aren't keen for this match to go ahead either. I don't know if the forecast in Dingwall is actually that bad for it to be postponed. That would make sense till you remember this is the SPFL. They appear not to be one bit fazed by arranging such a ridiculous time of year for this fixture. Stands to reason then Doncaster won't give much of a toss about the safety and hardship of fans traveling to and fro. Sorry, that's not completely correct. That's true, but if you are committed to following the team and are fortunate enough to be in a position to have no financial or family commitments that prevent you from going to all matches, then you should be able to do so - and to do so in safety and with relative certainty that the fixture will actually take place. Over seven days in the penultimate week of the year we have three away fixtures. One scheduled (Hearts), one which saw us trek through driving rain to Celtic Park to indulge one of the Gruesome Twosome in the cancellation of a fixture which should have been held in August (the second time in three seasons that Thistle fans have been inconvenienced in this manner) and one originally scheduled for Christmas Eve but, helpfully(???) moved to 7:45 on the previous evening. Now I recognize that Ross County fans face these journeys every second week, but that is not the main point at issue tomorrow. The weather forecast is horrendous and, even after our hard pressed driver battles up the A9, we could face the ultimate frustration of finding the Kessock Bridge closed due to high winds - a not infrequent occurrence in winter! Logic dictates that the football authorities should postpone the fixture - and postpone it now, not tomorrow afternoon when we are all en route. Logic dictates that the safety and interests of fans (customers) should be the prime consideration. Experience tells that football is the only business where the paying customer is irrelevant........so we shall see. Remind me once again, what is the principal reasoning behind having a winter break? It's the winter break that will be giving the SPFL fear. No games for a month in the Premiership and if they are postponements either side of the break there is a danger of fixture congestion. Hence the need to reschedule the celtic came for December 20th. Of course there should have been no need at all for that game to have been re-arranged from it's original August date. Simple thing is if there is advice not to travel then a fixture should be postponed. It's a football match nothing worth risking life or limb for. You could argue that fans don't need to travel but the players and coaching staff do. They face the same weather and driving conditions as everyone else. No matter what I won't be in Dingwall tomorrow but if the game goes ahead then massive respect to every Thistle fan that travels, hopefully safely and without incident, to the game. It's utterly ridiculous to send us up there at this time of year. The only people that the SPFL (and the clubs ARE the SPFL don't forget) are interested in accommodating are Sky and BT. It's a complete false economy though because as the product gets poorer the TV companies will drive down the price of the TV deal. Empty stadiums are a big part of that. Nobody wants to watch a game of football being played in an empty stadium, that's just a fact. So we have landed ourselves in a race to the bottom here. The clubs only have themselves to blame. Have to agree, downward spiral it seems. Stunned that at some point the SPFL bosses probably sat around a table to discuss fixtures and concluded that, yes in fact two days and the day before Christmas is a suitable time for a number of clubs/fans to face their biggest away day journey's. Now to not even consider postponement despite police and motoring organisations advising people only to travel if necessary is an utter shambles. Very much doubt i'll make this game, which i'm pretty gutted about as it's probably my favourite away day and usually meet with some County supporting friends for a sesh.
