lady-isobel-barnett
Is this how bad its got when we are worried over who is in goal......Against bogus part timers we should be fielding a minimum of three development players and still expect 4-0. Or three development players and a bad amateur.... Already pointed out that thru the idiocy of those who run our game playing development players is impractical
Tom Hosie
I don't think anyone is in fear of Formartine and, of course, a professional approach to the game should see us through with the minimum of fuss. That said it's probably worth pointing out that they are no mugs and certainly not the 'pub team' some seem to think they are. They took care of Annan in much the same fashion that Annan took care of Hamilton last season. They've got a fair sprinkling of experience in their squad and are fourth in the Highland League. They strike me as being a better side than the Culter team that took us to a replay and Cove who we beat 2-1,albeit playing with 10 men for well over half the game, the next season, . The professional approach I mention means fielding our strongest team, not experimenting with players in unfamiliar positions and not fielding Development squad players simply because we think the opposition are poor.
p12tfc
After 3 weeks without a competitive game I'd be amazed if Archie didn't put out a very strong team. In fact the team that starts on Saturday won't be far off the team that starts in inverness

MonehJags
^ Outstanding post. Well worth contributing to this thread. Instead of wasting posts like that, why dont you elaborate on your point? Or dont you have one?
ian_mac
Happy to elaborate. I find it ridiculous that someone is stating things like "we should be fielding a minimum of three development players and still expect 4-0. Or three development players and a bad amateur...." as if it's one of the laws of the game. It's a ridiculous statement. Who are these bad amateurs that we have at the club? Surely we want to give ourselves the best chance of being in the next round? Surely it's a great opportunity for first team players to get some match fitness after not playing for over 3 weeks? But no, some idiot who actually believes the world is flat is demanding that not only do we put out the development side, but also that we win by a 4 goal margin? Remind me again who's making the ridiculous posts.
twinny
^ Outstanding post. Well worth contributing to this thread. Instead of wasting posts like that, why dont you elaborate on your point? Or dont you have one? Aye, because posts on this forum are expensive and limited. It is therefore imperative that we make every character in every post useful.
Lambies Lost Doo
Strongest team. If we are doing well then bring on subs but most of our promising youngsters are on loan. Cerny Booth Lindsay Barton Devine Elliot Welsh Edwards Osman Erskine Doolan The "Christmas Tree" formation with Barton sweeping up at back and moving forward with ball. Osman looking to cover back when Barton goes forward. If looking good then Dumbaya, Azeez and Lawless/Amoo get off the bench.

1 John Lambie
Wouldn't underestimate the Highland League team, yes we're better than them in all departments but they do have some decent players who could probably still play at a higher level (presume there's decent investment for that level in attracting the ex pro's from the Highlands). We'll play a strong team regardless but would like to see Amoo, Azeez, Lawless, Dumbuya start & get some decent game time (& especially a decent performance from the 1st 3). Jimmy McD
We are PartickThistle 7th in the Scottish Premier League if we cant go to Firhill on Saturday expecting nothing else but a very convincing win against a team from the Highland league them I am lost as to who would have been an easier draw .....If our strongest 11 cant win with ease then its time for them to chuck it....
BowenBoys
Hope and expectation will exist in equal measure on the pitch on Saturday. This week I want expectation to win. When we play Celtic I will want hope to win. 'On paper' we ought to win easily. Fortunately, football isn't played 'on paper'. If it were, it would be very dull.
Jaggystu71
6-0 at halftime or I'll won't be happy. Maybe give young McLaughlin a go 3 hatricks this season for the Dev squad?

So, if there's a giant killing, you think the club should accept their resignations and let them leave, during a transfer window, for free? gianlucatoni
They scored 137 goals in their league last year, and have banged in 60+ this season so far. Irrespective of the relative merits or otherwise of their league - and the dubious quality of some of the teams like Rothes, Fort Willliam and Strathspey - their boys up front absolutely know their way towards goal & we underestimate them at our peril. Just hope it's not a banana skin.
sick in the basin
Any complacency disappears when think back to '93.....Cowdenbeath bottom of first div by 10 points, one win all season come to Firhill and won ..damn you Nicky Henderson ! MonehJags
If there is a giant killing in this Scottish cup tie with our strongest team, it will be one of the worst results in our history. It would be embarrassing for the club and us, the fans. It would also have a detrimental effect on the remainder of the season. Regardless of how many goals a team can score at their level, if the gulf of class doesn't show on the park tomorrow then there is a very serious problem not only at our club but in Scottish football as a whole. MonehJags
I said if it isn't clearly evident of the gulf in class between a premiership team and a non-league team there is a fundamental problem. Cup shocks on this scale never happen, if they do, its generally because the highest ranked side have fielded a heavily weakened side.
