New Players...

Once again worth pointing out that Miles Storey (as was Lyle Taylor) is the type of player we desperately need. The emphasis well and truly on the word "type". It's only natural we'll monitor the few players that meet that prototype.

We should ask Wimbledon about Lyle Taylor, we'd probably get rejected but it wouldn't hurt. We could tell him about our new training ground and show him some nostalgic videos of him scoring goals for Thistle!

Thought we would have at least one in place before the Celtic game. Can unfortunately see another League One panic signing because we've left it to the last minute again. Someone who probably has played for Crawley Town, and has more loan moves than goals. Hope to be proved wrong.

Reckon we'll see Dools tomorrow and another few forward players soon. Hopefully not more Ade types.

The management have said time and again they will risk going with what we have early in the season rather than make a panic buy and wait to try to get the best option they can. We know English lower league is a big market for us nowadays and their window doesn't close till the end of the month. We're not "leaving it to the last minute", we have a situation where a player is waiting to see what offers he gets (and if a player we're after is any good he'll have other options) and may not commit until the window is close to closing. So far with Turnbull and Spittal I'd say we've made two very good signings (not including Keown of course because he is an excellent signing but is different as he was with us for a spell before and knew all about us).

According to Wiki, Storey has scored a total of 21 goals in 116 senior matches for 7 clubs.

Why are some people so excited about him?

Dunno if anybody is SO excited, but when you're dying of thirst, even a thimble of water will give you hope...

Young guy, bit of experience, strong, quick - maybe he's not rattled them in like Messi, but he has potential. Prefer someone who's played in the league, and scored, than (yet) another unknown from the murky depths.

If he signs, great - still room for one more though!

Couldn't agree more!

Had a good season at Inverness CT, was snapped up by Aberdeen but wasn't given a proper chance. Can score in this league and adds a bit of pace to our attack. Not saying he's a world beater but he's a good signing at this level. Wikipedia doesn't tell the whole Storey.

We could probably sign a player with a better goals to games ratio but he would still need to have pace and strength. That's a tall order and perhaps outside our budget.

Archie prefers signing players that can play in more than one position (particularly relevant in this case as we normally play one up)

Nisbet finally put himself about a bit on Tuesday night with some very good hold up play but we need more than just one forward to offer that service.

For me the most positive thing if we sign him is the fact that Archie is consistently being successful in recruiting the people he wants.

if he's signing then i really wish he would put pen to paper - st johnstone will undoubtedly be circling having failed in their loan bid for s.may
