lady-isobel-barnett
Not much to grumble about there. Only Dingwall away at Xmas time looks a problem travel wise and we might lose a wee bit of revenue playing Dundee Utd in midweek. Occurs to me if anyone is planning to only go to two away games they'd struggle to get a better pairing than the very first and very last fixtures in the season. You would think that the spfl would try and keep travel to a minimum over the festive period...oh wait...obviously think we love travelling to Dingwall at Christmas

It's unfair and surely teams who have 1st games away should get the last game at home? It can't be that hard to work out.

Barney Rubble
Dingwall away on the opening day, and Somerset Park just before the festive period? How much more sense would that have made for all concerned? Not an excuse though - as Moneh has said there are 36 games to games to be played and won in whatever order they are presented to us. Which is exactly what I said this time last year. At least we've avoided Pittodrie between Christmas and New Year this time.
Blackpool Jags
Ayr on day 1. I like it. And a minimum of two wee sessions in the Globe, Dumfries. And nae sevco or shellick pre-humans near the hallowed old stadium for a whole year! Should be sufficient respite for it to recover from the 5 years of flares, vomit, half digested snotters, wanton vandalism, burglary, decaying raw meat and general cretinism it was becoming dangerously exposed to on a not infrequent basis, with only a coupla summer months of Maryhill wonderfulness all to itself. Sivad
For the second successive season, Thistle are required to start both their Betfred Cup and league campaigns away from home against a team that has won promotion in the previous season. Perhaps a mathematician could calculate the odds against that happening. The point being that newly promoted teams have higher than usual motivation to prove their worth at the start of a new season, especially when there is a champions flag to be unfurled by the home team. Hopefully we will enough to get past Stenhousemuir, but it might be as well not to hold high expectations for our team of strangers' visit to Ayr on their gala day. At least the outcome is unlikely to be as bad as the opening day of season 1984-85, when the mighty Forfar Athletic celebrated the hoisting of the second division flag with a 4-0 victory over the Jags, a result that set the tone for the rest of the season, when Thistle finished eleventh of fourteen, five places lower than Forfar.

The match vs Ayr won’t be quite the same as last season vs Hibs given that we will already have played them at Firhill in the Betfred Cup
