lady-isobel-barnett
How great was the standard of football today? God knows how far behind the present day Scotland team playing at its best is behind any of those four having an off day.

Fantastic start to the last 16 games, hope the standard of the rest of the games is as close to today.
jaggy
Question for others. I thought the initial foul on Mbappe was 2 yards outside the box today, but the defender continued to foul him. None of the commentators or ‘experts’ raised doubts about the penalty award. Is there a law in place now that allows the ref to give a penalty in such a case, or should it have been a free kick? Ancipital
If the foul starts outside but continues into the box it's a penalty. For a thistle example see Bannigan fouling Ainsworth at Fir Park a couple of seasons back.

I've heard talk of the momentum of the fouled player being taken into consideration but I don't even pretend to know the ruling. That said I assume if you're fouled outside the box the ref could still be playing advantage rule. So a secondary foul inside the box would result in a penalty. No idea if that was the case today. Jaggernaut
Did nobody else think that the French player was the first to commit a foul by pushing his arm across the defender's body and trying to pull him back? (Although his run from deep in his own half deserved a goal.)
sandbank boy
I'm sad that Messi is on his way home but delighted that Ronaldo is.

I don't think I've ever seen another player who looks like he loves/is infatuated by himself the way that Ronaldo does. Well, maybe Adam Strachan. BowenBoys
I wish to be the first to register disgust at the Spanish players for not singing their anthem. Thanks. Edited July 1, 2018 by BowenBoys

thistle4celtic1
Is obstruction even referenced in the rule book anymore? I don't think I've seen a free kick awarded for it in years.
Barney Rubble
Neymar is streaking ahead in the race to be c*nt of the tournament. Mind you, he did have a considerable advantage to begin with. Edited July 2, 2018 by Barney Rubble

Not sure how workable it is though and whether a manager would have enough time to put a team together
Barney Rubble
Game of the tournament to date tonight. And there have been a handful of contenders for that accolade. (Spain v Portugal, France v Argentina, Uruguay v Portugal) That was riveting stuff.
