I reckon across the whole league we're facing more ex Jags than I can ever remember

This may be a consequence of going down a league after a relatively large  number of seasons in the higher league. We are re-encountering many of the players who were not quite good enough for a long term career at the higher level and took the step down either before or at the same time as we did.

We all know the most recent players that fit that bill and going back a few years Aaaron Muirhead, Kallum Higginbotham, James Craigen and Declan McDaid would all be in that category.

Don't know if johnny Gibson ever played against us but we must have faced joe craig and Ronnie Gavin with david mcp in the home dugout at parkhead

Johnny Gibson never played against us after leaving.

Father of Steven and Ronnie Glavin played against us on several occasions.

Father of Steven's last goal for the Eastenders was against us in April 1978.

Ronnie Glavin scored against us at Celtic Park in February 1977 in a 2-0 defeat. The other scorer was one K. Dalglish. Wonder whatever happened to him.

Although it wasn't against us, there was an Ayr United v Falkirk game a couple of seasons ago that had 9 ex-Jags between the starting line ups.

ETA - Just checked. It was actually eight plus Kevin Nisbet, who was on loan from us at the time.

18.07.2001 Alan Morgan Select [h] W5-1 (Alan Morgan Testimonial)
The record was almost certainly set by the 10 ex-Jags who lined up against our regular first team in the above: Andy Murdoch, Ray Montgomerie, Albert Craig, Jim Duffy, Gerry Collins, Ian Cameron, Paul Kinnaird, Alan Morgan, Derek McWilliams and Chic Charnley. Bobby Russell was the lone Ranger. Of course, Alan Morgan was also a future Jag as he changed strips and played out the game as a true Jag for auld lang syne, sealing his night with a goal from the penalty spot!

23.07.2011 Stenhousemuir [h] W2-1 (Challenge Cup 1st Round)
With only 50% of historical opposition data compiled to date I couldn't be definitive at this time with an answer in competitive action, but there were 6 former Jags in the starting line-up against us in this one, and that will take some beating: Willie Lyle, Kevin McKinlay, Martyn Corrigan, Brown Ferguson, Eric Paton and Stevie Murray.

Indeed, I wouldn't think many can. He was a trialist right-back for Dick Campbell's Thistle in July 2005 and played for 72 minutes of a pre-season friendly at Glebe Park, being replaced by Kenny Haswell shortly after Thistle fell 3 behind. The 4-0 loss at Brechin stands as one and only appearance as a Jag.
