A quick comparison of Ross County and us in the run-up to next week's game:

They have scored 31 goals, we have scored 16.

They have conceded 14 goals, we have conceded 28.

They have 33 points, we have 14.

They have won 9 games, we have won 4.

They have lost 2 games, we have lost 11.

Predictions, anyone?

Ross County 4, Thistle 0

ETA: After some "brilliant" training sessions this week, of course.

When we used this to have the great unpredictables tag then this is exactly the kind of game we would win.  Sadly that tag has gone and I fear you might be right.  I still have the fear from my last trip up there when it was 4-0 and on current form a repeat could be likely.

Unfortunately, all that seems to be predictable about Thistle these days is their painfully slow build-up to attacking moves, lack of movement up front when it eventually transpires that they are trying to attack, and that the defence is usually  incapable of holding out for an entire game without losing at least one goal.

I have zero expectation of them coming away from Dingwall even with one point.

We are now predictable. If we go ahead we will invariably draw or lose and if we go behind we have lost the game.

With apologies to William Topaz McGonagall

Oh great tarmacked bridge over the Cromarty Firth

Thistle supporters hardly crossed over in mirth

But they travelled in hope on Saturday twenty-second of December two thousand and eighteen

But the match confirmed that times were truly lean

'Twas just about four-fifty that day when reality kicked in

Their team had been beaten by four goals to yin

Although the distance was just as it had been, the long road south seemed even longer

Oh how they wished their team had been stronger

8 out of 10. Would have been 10 if you done it in Gaelic.

Watch the ayr v co game. We are slow and ponderous at best. They are going to slaughter us with pace and direct style.

I usually try to be half full kinda mindset but i cannot get beyond an eaay co win. We were going up to this as a Christmas night out but all have cancelled. Another indication of dwindling fan numbers under this regime.

Another nail in gary caldwells relegation coffin i fear

Where we can look for a little bit of hope, so that we can travel with cautious optimism?

Current form? It all favours Ross County.

Last result in Dingwall? That nightmare 4-0 humiliation.

But wait a minute. In the bleak midwinter, angel voices sing, "Fear not".

Look at our last few results in December and January away against Ross County.

In the teeth of Storm Barbara, Lindsay, Doolan and Erskine inspire us to a 3-1 victory.

A John Robertson header sneaks us a 1-0  in the Scottish Cup.

Mark Roberts and Steven McConalogue go crazy in a 5-2 horsing.

Martin Hardie nets the winner to strengthen our promotion push in 2002.

This is our time. A time to wonder and a time to ponder. A time to thunder and a time to plunder!
