What’s our biggest game next season

I actually think the biggest games are against the teams we will be fighting with for a promotion play off spot (I expect Dundee United to win the league by some margin). Therefore it’s inverness, dundee, Morton and Dunfermline that are our biggest games I think as they all are proverbial six pointers!

After the experience of last season, I think the first 10 games of the season will be the markers we need for success. If we start well, get the momentum, I feel we will do well over the whole season. Conversely if we start bad,  we will have a manager under more scrutiny and folks blaming either him, or Gerry (and to a lesser extent Ms Low) and a level of general discontent that is both tiresome for the supports, but also tiresome for the players.

One thing I found hard to take with Archie's teams (towards the end of his tenure), was that we continually gave the rest of the league a start on us simply because in the early games we appeared to be a group of strangers on the park. If GC can get us playing well and winning at home and taking points from away games he will go a long way in getting the support completely behind him and his team …. wouldn't it be good to get 20+ points from the first 10 games?

Why is discontent tiresome. It's all part if the rich tapestry of football. If you find it tiresome just don't read it, gloss over it.

Biggest game for me will be the first league game, that'll be the first evidence of the players style and intent. Thereafter we will all build up each game and they'll all be big as @Auld Jagsays.

I'll be looking forward to a nice trip to Inverness as usual, possibly make a weekend out of it. AND every game against the bonnet will be bug, I'd love to screw them every time we play them but arbroath can be a cold windy lonely place.......

There has to be some settling/bedding in period at the start of every season, once the serious games get underway. I'll try and not be too harsh during the league cup group games

To state the bleedin' obvious our biggest games might be against the teams closest to us - at a guess Morton, Dunfermline, QotS, Ayr - and to try a keep ahead of Alloa and Arbroath - not sure if that equates to pessimism but seems moderately realistic to me.

I mind the season we were promoted we had just beaten Airdrie 7-0. Was on the bus going into town.  We were slightly deflated as Morton had been winning 2-0 at East End Pk only to end up drawing. The Pars were thought to be our major opponents for the title and Morton not considered anyway a challenge at the time. Turned out of course the complete opposite.

I mention all that as that was late October that season so I've not got a scoobie who'll be our biggest game this season. I wouldn't have thought a home game late season with Alloa would have been our biggest fixture in the one just passed.

Okay, I will correct / modify what I said earlier … call it 'continuous' discontent. I think that gets on everyone's t*ts

I hope the biggest game of the season is the last game, unless we wrap up the league early of course.

Think games against the Dundee teams will be meaningful and will give us an idea of how strong we are.

Wish you hadn't said that (after last season)!
