thistle4celtic1
Was he given a fair shake by the club? Was it lack of skill or lack of fitness that contributed to his demise? I'm kind of surprised that no one has picked him up, as he did show flashes of excellence playing premiership football.
elevenone
I thought the same of Marc Lamont and Neil McLaughlin as potentials. I think Andy had a fair crack of the whip but for whatever reason it just didn’t happen. Good luck to him though.
Jimmy McD
Feel sorry for Andy.He was never really given a chance under G.C. He came on when we got humpted at Cappilow 5.1. and Caldwell raved about him..Still remember the game at porkheid where he was fantastic. Caldwell brought him on at right back and he was absolutely terrible (while also shifting Christie to centre back, even more bafflingly). That Caldwell raved about that performance genuinely makes me worry for the guy. McCarthy wasn’t good enough, ultimately. Not fit enough, didn’t score goals, and wasn’t a great passer. Hope he finds a club but I don’t think we will regret letting him go.

I may be wrong, but I am sure Caldwell raved about Erskine and Doolan just before they left.
jagfox
He was/ is on trial with QoS. The lad will be doing well to get a full-time gig based on his efforts for us last season. Good luck to him though. Change of scene and all that...
lady-isobel-barnett
What jagfox says. I do tho' have a fair bit of sympathy for Andy. He had a bad injury when he was younger and was out the game for a fair while. He had to bulk up rather quicker than most and probably missed out on a loan spell. Paulo
He was never really fully fit last season. Recovered and spoke about taking his chance to get back in the team, never got a chance under the current manager for whatever reason. p12tfc
Too injury prone for me. Even under Archie he was often out for two or three weeks. No doubt he will go on to play a full season somewhere and play very well but for me the correct decision was made
