St Mirren/Livi

Watched the Sportscene highlights and was impressed by the grittinesss, organisation and creativity of these two teams who have more of less been written off by the pundits for this season. Where do their managers get it from?

I never feel that way about the Jags. We ALWAYS look vulnerable! Or am I being unfair?

Not unfair at all. We have been vulnerable in recent times, not as much since o'ware returned though.

It's not just under GC, for the promotion season and the first 2 seasons up, I didn't think we were as bad as we are now, but perhaps the passage of time has affected my memory

I would agree with DD but I could also go through the teams we see as broadly on our level, even including the Motherwells and Killies of the world, and you could just about say what they are going to offer eg Livi , hard to beat, Hamilton similar, St Johnstone boring but organised etc etc.

What  would I say about us?  Loose, brittle at set pieces, lot of the ball but no teeth.

This would probably pertain over the last few seasons?

I totally agree with you DD, but in my experience...

The things that happen to my teams, Thistle and Scotland, JUST DON'T SEEM TO HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE.

The women's team against Argentina was the most recent example. But the number of games that Thistle have lost in injury time in recent years, the number of games they have seemed dominant but lost, just massively seem to outnumber the opposite. Only Thistle do successive relegations. Only Thistle lose in play-offs despite being the big league team. Only Scotland can see two magnificent free-kicks take you so tantalisingly close to a historic win against your greatest rival, and have it snatched away with the last kick.

When Fitzpatrick scored the winner against Dundee United last season I was in shock. If they'd scored I'd have thought it inevitable.

Yeah, I know there's a element of paranoia to this. But I truly feel there is also a reality to it.

Hibs and Dunfermline fans might wish to debate the above.

If I remember correctly Dundee Utd 'equalised' after our last minute winner, but it was chopped of for offside.

I think that AJ may be teetotal, so all that he will be swigging is Irn Bru or Ginger Beer.  How he has held to this over so many decades following Thistle I do not know.  Hats off, or should that be balaclavas off?:partyhat:

Yes ptd, despite many decades of following Thistle I am teetotal. Even the current problems will not have me drinking alcohol.
