Disabled supporters viewing platform.

After watching footage of the hooligan behaviour of the away fans at Rugby park yesterday. Destroying the roof of the disabled shelter and injuring a fan, I feel our board should be praised for the disabled viewing platform at Firhill. The platform is at the back of the JHS, it gives an excellent view of the pitch and gives the fans using it very good protection in bad weather. Also there could be no repeat of the scenes at Rugby park. I know we have some reasons to question the board, but on this occasion they should be praised. Below is a picture of the platform and the view from the platform.

There's an opinion piece on the Grauniad's website today regarding the frankly shameful way disabled supporters are treated at English Premiership grounds, even one with shiny new billion-pound stadiums.

Disabled Thistle fans also use the front of the John Lambie stand. Away fans who are disabled use the old enclosure in the Colin Weir stand.

Neither of which sound particularly appealing tbh. Both are at pitch level meaning poor views (I'd imagine), and the away fans are left entirely isolated from the rest of their support, and indeed everyone else. Even the Jackie Husband viewing platform means that Thistle fans there will be sitting with the away fans in front of them.  It's certainly an improvement but all clubs could and should do better to be less exclusionary.

When Robert first went to Firhill, we used the enclosure with the away fans behind us. Then from the promotion season onwards we used the front of the John Lambie , which Robert loved because he was in with the Thistle fans and when Thistle scored at that end he got to see the players celebrations close up. Robert used a power chair and there was nowhere else he could go but ground level. He never complained about the view. At Scotland games at Hampden, we were either again at ground level or at the very back of the stand, which was not the best view.

How was the experience at other Scottish stadiums?
