Reckon the midfield and strikers are ok, then?

We’ll need a new defence in January

What will we be able to afford? May have to keep the least bad!

Would it be easier to rebuild from scratch in the division below?

Not  financially and it’s  too much of a risk .... the goal is clearly to stay in the division ... it will all depend on what scope McCall has to shake things up in January

Definitely not....we need a new spine of team... we’re weak back, middle and front.  Just that I think our defence is particularly rank.

I heard McCall say recently that we have a good squad and it doesn’t need major overhaul in January...  I guess he said that just to keep morale up..

Managers always have to be careful in what they say .... he can’t come out and say the squad is shit even if he thinks it

Yep.

After 'this is a good squad which doesn't deserve to be bottom of the table', then 'only 6/8/10/12 (whatever) points off the top four' seems to be the next best 'whistle in the dark' option.

Sounds quite comforting when you put It like that.

It's like taking sweets aff a wean beating Thistle these days.  Ayr look faster and more up for the game. When they go forward you can see team mates run in to space in a way that suggests it's been discussed pre match. On the other hand we can look lethargic in defence and clueless up front.  The target has to be just to survive this season once we punt some of the imposters in January.

Just when you think it cannae get any worse we have a perfect illustration of why we're down 4-0. Banzo loses it doing his wee pointless passes, Ayr rush up field in numbers and it's in the pokey before you know it. They're miles better than us.

But this decline started well before Caldwell came in. He wasn't the answer.
