Selling Thistle tickets to Celtic fans DISGRACE

Tickets have been on sale for weeks and we're nowhere near selling our allocation. Saturday night in with the steam iron is proving a popular alternative, bobbyhouston :). Rather stupid for Celtic fans to advertise where they're sitting but hardly surprising they'll be in the Main Stand in numbers. Be interesting if any flares are ignited. Duty of care issues?

Anyway this should be a one off. We're supposed to be fan owned come April and we'd literally only have ourselves to blame if this madness is repeated.

It was easy to stop this as well. All the club had to do was ask real Thistle fans to display their TAG membership ID's when purchasing tickets.........

The OP is over the top. You've made out their turning up at Firhill wearing full Celtic regalia buying tickets.  How would you have prevented this? If there are Celtic fans in the home section on Saturday causing trouble then they should be ejected. If they are sitting quietly causing no bother, then that's fair game in my book.

At least it will guarantee a full house.

I was under the impression that this fiasco was fixed and addressed after the mid- week shambles when celtic visited Firhill a couple of seasons back. There was no segregation that night due to celtic fans purchasing tickets willy nilly.

If not for police intervention it could have turned into a riot.  Police officers apologised to me and the good lady after a fan landed on top of us while been apprehended . No lessons learned is very apparent. and the club seems hellbent on making a quick buck ,rather than providing safety for the home support and protection for an old timber stand.

Police will be aware of this. Hopefully all will get booted out by stewards. Clearly giving them 80% of the stadium is not enough for them. Something has to be done about this

If 1000 Celtic fans with tickets are trying to gain entry to the main stand the police will allow them in rather than starting a confrontation outside in which fans from the rest of the 7000 contingent could join in

This unfortunately is a likely scenario.

We all know that this match is a money spinner for us and we all know that we require the money to strengthen the squad. I just wonder if a cup game at Firhill against the likes of Hearts, Hibs or Aberdeen wouldn't have generated about the same amount of lolly without the hassle. By the sound of it three or four times more Jags fans would go (that's maybe a conservative figure). Give any of those three clubs the JHS and we'd still have a bumper crowd and I'd imagine policing and other incurred costs would be lower.

Highly doubt it will be as much as 1000. Reckon 500 at the very most as you would have fought that we have sold over 1000 of the tickets available

It's a sad reflection that we can't even take just the one stand and fill it, but a sign of the times.  The fact that tickets are (or were) available on-line suggests they weren't selling.  Originally they were only available by phone or in person.  Tickets should have been on sale on Saturday.  The problem remains how to "police" the sale of tickets.  A problem facing most clubs in similar circumstances.  The club could restrict on-line purchase to season tickets holders only but understandably that's a red rag to a bull for many non-ST holders of course.   In any case, how do you ensure they are going to Thistle fans who call in to the office or phone?  Not sure there is (or ever will be) an answer.  Think this has just made my mind up to body-swerve Saturday.

Yes we do why should our fans who make the effort to attend have to site with them

However, what if a true Thistle fan changes his mind and decides he wants to go now. Its Wednesday, there are hundreds of available seats but the club says they cant sell anymore tickets. Is that what your suggesting?

Most fans are on a mailing list so a quick check against this should make it easy
