Apple Tree Behind the Terracing?

Asking this for a friend. His mate has told him that there used to be an apple tree growing at the back of the terracing at the Glasgow end of Firhill. Says he was brought  up in a tenement at that end where Rough had a pub. He maintains he could look into the park apart from the tree.

Is this true or a wind up? Before my time so I have no clue.

There was a tree but I don't know for sure it was an apple tree. To get to the shed you could walk along the front of the terracing or walk round the back of it. There was a grass bank between the pathway and the back of the terracing and the tree was in there.

Yes, I remember as a kid walking up that at least one apple tree was there. I  seem to have been told that they were crab apples and not a cultivated variety.  I never tried to eat one.
