I don't want to be too negative on the recent loan players we have, but when I saw Rudden come on against Ayr, to me he looked like a slow version of Connor Sammon.

Think Rudden has a 2 year contract

Anyone can suffer a theft - it doesnt distract from the fact that they are a Well Run Club on the Park and Off it

Not interested in a back and forward discussion. But i am sure i heard the scammers tried it with a number of clubs and Hamilton were the only team that they got. Cant disagree they are in a much better position than Thistle. I just hope we can get on a really good run and manage 8th and have a much better season next season.

It's simple GRE, if you're not happy to accept a 3-season shitfest, you're simply 'not real fan'. How many times?!

What do you want FFS, success?

Its you that keeps coming up with this 'real fan' patter. I have never used the phrase.

Just to be clear - no I am not satisfied, pleased happy etc with the last 3 seasons, I am frustrated as any Jags supporter. I just do not think the knee-jerk reaction of lets sack the manager is helpful. Most people , yes I know not all , thought McCall was the correct appointment. Most people thought we had a decent transfer window. The results have not been as anyone would have hoped.

Solution?? Sack the manager !! Start again. Spend more money getting rid of  manager and his backroom staff.  Spend more money appointing some else - who ? Don't know does'nt matter= we need as change! Give him 6 months- hell need to bring in his own choice of players- more costs; Oh dear results as still not good- he needs to go. When did it all start to go wrong?? Its all because we did'nt get rid of Archie earlier enough.

FFS - get a grip.

two and a half year contract

to me he looked more than ok against celtic

put himself about plenty of energy

when fit graham and zak will cause opposition defences plenty of problems

for me we need to look at our midfield and wide players  we dont push the game forwards

we don't really have a goal threat from midfield

no one takes on the responsibility of threatening the opposition defence

most teams we play, like  dundee arbroath alloa etc, they get the ball forward much quicker and have players pushing on

in other words they play the game at a much higher tempo

we seem to have players that make a pass and then stop, they don't follow up and support the receiving player and give him options with the ball

all basic stuff really, again i say what do we do at the training ground?

Is there any need for this kind of post?

If you cannot cope with another poster's cynicism/frustration/dark humour or plain fedupnness then maybe you should consider whether this forum is a place you should be visiting after a Thistle game.

Oh sorry to have upset you Barney. I can cope with his cynicism/frustration/dark humour or plain fedupnness  just fine. Its the constant repetitive and  predictable negativity that gets to me.

Hey Ho.

Dear oh dear! You cannot see the relevance of the timeline of Archie's dismissal? Blind to the obvious.

To where we are today and how we get out of the current mess,   No I cannot. Please enlighten me.

I think a fit Shea Gordon is a goal threat from midfield.

What nepotism are you referring to?

Brian Kerr bringing his best mate Gary Harkins in even though he was finished (2nd top earner)

Gary Caldwell bringing his best mate Kenny Miller in (Top earner)

Board bringing Alan Rough in who’s always been more publicly interested in Celtic than us

Gerry Britton having almost every role at the club and apart from Striker not being great at any

Zac Rudden  is not fully fit. When he reaches peak fitness and up to speed I think we will see a player who will get goals. He has a two and a half year deal with us .

Some of us can remember a time when we came to Firhill to be entertained. Some of us might even remember when we had a crumb of confidence in the people who were running the club. A fish rots form the head down.

If you can point to the bit where I said, or even remotely implied,  'sack the manger', I'll donate £100 to TFE.

Not so much knocking down straw men, and knocking down imaginary straw men.

Difficult to put your finger on why the team has failed miserably after it looked like McCall had them improving slowly. We all agreed the team needed gutting and the vast majority thought the window signings looked good ( dont remember anyone criticising the signings.....). I'll admit I had a slight hope for 4th but that has gone obviously. Maybe that fact will stimulate the minds of the players and the manager. Still think we will stay up. Just.

How would Ian McCall know if the loan players are any good if they’re just making their way in the game and have not played any first team football,my point was nothing to do with finances more to do with the thought process on how he thought these loan players are going to make a difference in a relegation battle when they are still learning the game .

In my humble opinion, getting players on loan, especially from other Scottish teams, is for the most part, useless, and can even be damaging.

I'd be happy if we never got another one.

All teams do it. So presumably they cant all be wrong?

Look at the Title of this Thread.

I know it was not you who started it, but I do not have the technical skills to answer 1 post whilst referring to another.

I reckon it's just one of those things where everybody does it, so everybody feels they have to do it.

The few fans of rival clubs I've spoken to plus a Falkirk fan were envious of us signing Rudden. I don't recall fitness issues being mentioned.

The fact that sevco have "retained an interest" can be taken two ways. The positive side being somebody they believe will develop reasonably quickly into a top player. The other side of the coin it could mean something different. He's got the potential but.... and that's "a big but".

Further worries as I see it is the delay in getting the Graham/Rodden partnership up and running (a good understanding won't happen overnight) and even at that whether our midfield is strong enough to support two upfront. That's where we have to rely on MacKinnon turning back the years or Mayo being mature enough to anchor midfield. Lots of ifs and buts....

Whatever the reasons, it would be good to have assertive business management requiring evidence of improvement. Perhaps the Working Group should be turning its thoughts to how the Club is managed here and now. Is Gerry Britton a hard-nosed businessman capable of asking difficult questions and making tough decisions? (I doubt it, but don't know enough about the inside dealings.) Surely a general manager should be asking McCall what two assistants can contribute (as opposed to an extra scout or specialist coach or other position) , if he can supply a reason for fielding a defence which has not had a clean sheet this season, whether the goalkeeping coaching is up to scratch, whether he has plans for dealing with injuries (McKinnon, Rudden) and to what extent he has data on the opposing teams and players in this division.

I agree with Fearchar …. do we have the GK coach / scout we need? As an example, I wonder if anyone at the club has had a look at Jordan Longmuir [Pollok Juniors GK]. He has better positional sense than Fox and has the ability to organise his defence to his requirements which is another thing Fox has lost recently. I know there is a big difference between Juniors and Championship level of play, but I honestly see a far better keeper in Longmuir than Fox.

jacqui low would be better in goals than fox. Only in our game could someone as useless as him make money playing football

I saw the Pollok keeper earlier in the season and didn't rate him. Think the Auchinleck Talbot keeper is better than Fox though. He's proved himself against decent opposition too.
