If Cardle and Rudden are out I wonder if McCall will be tempted to go for a 3-5-2 along the following lines?

Fox

O'Conner - Brownlie - O'Ware - Mayo - Penrice

Cole-MacKinnon-Bannigan

Zannata - Graham

We don't really have any wide midfielders as Cardle and Zannata are really wingers so pushing the fullbacks on to provide width might make more sense. With 3 centrebacks it would perhaps make it easier to nominate one to mark Nesbit as he seems to be Dunfermline's only reliable goal threat.

Dunfermline will be a threat at set pieces with both of their centrebacks (Devine and Ashcroft) scoring recently at QOS. However I would fancy Graham and Zanatta to force Devine into making a mistake or two.

3 at the back like against Arbroath. Please god no

Sooner have no game than a permanent plastic pitch. Dreadful to watch.

Rain been ridiculous for a few days & actually getting worse - really can't see it going ahead. No idea if that's a good or bad thing. Suppose good if we can get a fitter squad.

Nae golf, nae footy  Its enough to drive a man to drink or even watching the egg kickers.

We really need this game to be on, regardless of wind, rain, painting or golf. If it is postponed, it will be replayed at a time other than 3pm on a Saturday.

I have done a quick analysis of our games so far this season, and my calculations are as follows.

We have played 24 League and Cup games at 3pm on a Saturday. Results:

Won 11 Drawn 3 Lost 10.

Assuming points awarded for all cup games as for league games, that is 36 points and therefore an average of 1.5 points per game.

We have played 12 League and Cup games at times other than 3pm on a Saturday. Results:

Won 3 Drawn 3 Lost 6.

12 points and therefore an average of 1 point per game.

Einstein's conclusion from this data is that we have more chance of getting more points from this game if played at 3pm tomorrow.

So it is singing in the rain time. Get out that balaclava, AJ!

Not too bad overnight and up until recently. Heavy wintry showers which should ease off in an hour.

Strong icy winds not necessarily a bad thing for drying out the pitch but not conducive to getting the home support out IF the game goes ahead...

Thistle manager Ian McCall said: “We were all desperate to play a game of football this afternoon but the referee has made the correct decision. There are areas of the park that aren’t playable and would not be safe for the players. The forecast for the rest of the day is poor and wouldn’t help to get the surface playable. It’s disappointing but absolutely the correct decision.”
