I am sure i have read/heard the Scottish players union does not want games played behind doors.

In the current circumstances when is it going to be totally safe going to a game 12 / 18 months down the line .

Playing limited games behind closed doors shouldn’t be an issue and also gives the authorities a bit of time till we’re on slightly safer ground.

The SPFL Board is meeting today.  Anyone know when it starts?  Presumably it will be after Dundee finally decides how to vote.

Presumably it will be on some media platform to ensure we can all view and hear what is being said.? They  will, after all, want to ensure transparency and that sporting inegrity is maintained at all time and by all.

Given the testing Procedure for any New Drug can be Years  and this one will be going to Millions - doubt there will be a vaccine in Six Months ......

Not an Expert - but the procedures take Years thats simply a fact  - your quoting one person - Im going by Pharma Industry Standards

This Drug will be given to Millions - the Cure could Wipe out far more than the Cause if its not done properly

They will get Deaths to below 500 a Day then start to open Up the Economy - by that time NHS will be Geared up to deal with any surge

Govt are simply playing  for time to get infrastructure in place - this is with us for Years - its a Virus

Only 5  games in the bottom 3 leagues need to be played to give all teams the same number of matches played.  No team needs to play twice.

The economy will restart after the lockdown is ended long before a vaccine is generally available.

Why can't these 5 games be played behind closed doors with carefully tested players and officials - say in July.

It could be done over one or two days, and some income gained from the sale of TV rights.

Monies due to clubs unaffected by these matches can be distributed now.  For the few remaining, SPFL loans at zero interest could tide clubs over until place money is determined.

The 2020/21 season could then start as normal assuming social distancing has ended.

Not perfect, but having the lower leagues decided on the same number of games played by all teams is infinitely preferrable to the current SPFL proposal.

check out the oxford unit and the doctors involved they have previous success on these issues ... heard them only today referred  on the radio as extremely reliable

the virus is creating a revolution in medicine approval check the number of human trials underway now as we speak ... the world has changed

the issue will not be September but manufacturing capacity

Sorry but the whole Oxford unit having a vaccine ready by September is a bit of propoganda by the UK Government. Its a mix of trying to suggest that the end is in sight, we have clever people and also trying to suggest that the UK Government is at the leading edge of the response to Coranvirus rather than being cuplable for the disastrous herd immunity approach.

I've seen  a similar article suggesting that Dundee University were making great strides.  In reality Germany are the leaders in developing a vaccine and they suggest a year or so to do it.

You are putting 50+ people (Players, managers, officials etc) in close proximity which goes against all guidelines.  Even having one team in the dressing room or using (Shared) showers is against all guidance, plus the same for dug-out. Then you add the risk of fans congregating to view in from the canal etc.

Not sure why you think this is propaganda by UK govt since this is a respected unit led by an Irishman .... look at their work on SARS

If they say they are 80% confident of having a vaccine then that’s what they think

Wholeheartedly agree with your post , with the exception of Point 1.

The time for an "expression of disappointment" is long gone. The onlything these people understand and will take heed of is direct action which will inflict disruption, delay and have financial consequences.

Agree with comment and can feel your anger!

Re point 1 I was just being polite and diplomatic - worst thing we could do as a club would be to issue a public statement full of anger and emotion - has to be factual, balanced, mature and pointed! (unlike my post)!

Dundee, SPFL and others will get the point!

What an absolute shambles.
Who knows what Rangers have - is it still Traynor who does their media work? If so, likely all pomp & little substance. Hope not.

We will he forgotten about. Hearts will probably, somehow, be saved. Stinks to high heaven - what can we do though?

Genuinely tempted to chuck it. I love Thistle & watching football, but when the game is so clearly flawed, what’s the point? Absolutely scunnered with this & really not worth the energy in today’s world.

This is exactly how I feel.  Don't think I would go back.

and the counter argument put by WHO today....

Perhaps rather than stating 'There will be a vaccine in September' we prepare for the worst whilst hoping for the best might be the best policy from a PTFC planning perspective?

The one redeeming point for Dundee is that the majority of their fans seem to be as seething as us about it.

That's a very good point. I haven't seen any in support of a yes vote.

They are of course handing their bitter rivals the title but I think they all knew that was going to happen anyway.

Let’s see but note the WHO don’t themselves develop vaccines and will be rightly cautious but time will tell

Norwegian health director has stated today that the chances of any sporting events being played in 2020 are very slim. They will reassess the situation start of June.

Remembering that the daily rise here is 134 yesterday compared to UK 11329  and a lower percentage of population  per million infected 1218 Vs 1305 per million.

You would be very optimistic to have a vaccine developed by September let alone, manufactured and distributed to 60 million people (UK) before end of year, and that is on the 80%  chance of it happening

This now being reported from Kheredine Idesanne,  who said a statement is due out this afternoon.

@PartickThistle asking @spfl ceo Neil Doncaster to circulate full details to all 42 clubs of the loans they could get from the League. Thistle say SPFL emergency loans are open to any club to apply for whether to cover for expected prize money or another purpose

I agree.

Would love our Club to issue a statement full of anger and emotion, naming names and outing the back stabbers. In reality I realise this would be counter productive , but it would be very satisfying.!
