Would almost say it's bringing the game into disrepute if the SG needed to get involved in football affairs...…..wonder is a Notice of Complaint is coming their way.

in order of possibilities:

SPFL to Aberdeen

SFA to the SPFL/Aberdeen

from FIFA/UEFA  to the SFA ?  government interference .

the last possibility might explain the muddy language being published between the government and football authorities , that they requested rather than ordered . The rumour is that the FM was incandescent  with rage on the subject especially with the back to school priority  coming on Tuesday . Based on the words in the press from the FM , there's more than a hint to the industry that any re occurrence and your shut down by introducing targeted restrictions.

I like a bit of SPFL bashing but I don't blame them for this. The idiots who broke the rules are entirely to blame. It's a very serious offence. Hope Aberdeen throw the book at them and do so publicly. The future of small football clubs could be endangered by these stupid young footballers.

All over Europe football has it protocols agreed with govt to operate and they are not just about pubs and restaurants but also testing , social bubbles etc etc and of course players in Scotland just have to go to the pub get the virus and spread it around .....then the Aberdeen game is on then off what a governing body

the only thing worse is Graham speirs blaming the scot gov for re opening the hospitality sector !

Fully agree although sadly not even all young footballers.  Wont name names on a forum but one of them a seasoned 33yr old pro at the pub.

yep, nearly a hundred cases from about 30 boozers in Aberdeen over one weekend ...

.. . it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what will transpire when 2000 primary schools, 360 secondaries & 130 odd specialist schools open their doors from Tuesday

What are the penalties for failing to fulfil a fixture? Given all clubs are pleading poverty a points deduction may be a more appropriate sanction than a fine or withholding Aberdeen's cut of the tv money.  I see the game has been rearranged so Dungcaster & Co won't simply be award the points to St Johnstone.

The very least the club can do is fine all eight two weeks wages.  They didn't obey the Covid protocol.

The club can claw back some of the goodwill lost by this if they then donate the fines to the Scottish NHS, or something similar

Dr Catherine Calderwood resigned for breaking lockdown rules by visiting her second home.

Dominic Cummings did absolutely nothing wrong.

Eight Aberdeen players broke isolation protocols (and therefore their employment contracts) by visiting a pub. Two of  them have contracted Covid 19. Who knows how many others are isolating as a direct result of their actions. Where on the Calderwood/Cummings Spectrum does this offence sit?

Luckily stats from continental Europe are showing schools and younger people do not increase the spread to each other or teachers unlike adults in enclosed places.

You need to balance managing Corona virus versus the education of children including the social safety net it provides during the day.  And it frees up parents to work as we all need to pay off this magic money from the government.

We're not adopting the Danish model of teaching kids in pods and use of alternative venues for teaching though - it's everyone back in school by 18th August - I'm back in to a secondary school on Monday and it's been total radio silence in procedures, risk assessments etc

@gianlucatoni I'm lucky I can work from home.  Do you have reservations about going back in?  For nurseries and primary schools it seems minimal risk but I can understand concern over older kids (although European stats look positive).

You may need a visor as kids are spitting mad about SQA downgrading marks.

Different countries are adopting different approaches eg Sweden never shut schools and used a different approach again so let’s see.....Devi Sridhar who is worth listening to has said with the Scot govt elimination strategy , low levels of infection in the community and effective track and trace then opening schools is viable .

And some of those pubs found out about it in the press and had to contact local authorities to see if they wanted the tracing records they had taken. They were not contacted by local or national government or health services

So imagine the scene .....the govt allows football to restart and you agree a strict protocol to make that happen......it then turns out players at a club have broken these protocols and tested positive...do you

A ...go to the provisions you agreed to put in place and the actions you agreed to take having completed a risk assessment on possible issues and concerns in this situation

B....hold a number of ad hoc meetings and discussions as you react to events as they happen

C.....check your still getting paid £380,000 a year

If you or me were instructed in writing  by our employers that due to current situation you can’t visit here or there or do this or that as it brings a risk to other employees and ultimately the company, yet still went ahead and done it with 7 colleagues, we’d be fired.

Excuse my ignorance, but what rules did they break?

Yes but as in our Dom's case, their employer won't take that action.

They are supposed to be in a bubble. As agreed between the Scottish Government, the SPFL and their club.

But if they went to the pub in their bubble- ie all 8 players together; and they socially distanced; what did they do wrong?

I think they have been unlucky. Cannot believe players from  the  other SPFL teams did not go out together after last weekends games.

Ok.....fact check....she has no position with the Scottish govt, receives no remuneration or funding  but does feed into the Scot govt advisory committee see below ....

The Scottish Government COVID-19 Advisory Group will be a time limited expert group chaired by Professor Andrew Morris, Professor of Medicine at the University of Edinburgh and Director of Health Data Research UK. He will be supported by vice chair, Professor David Crossman, Dean of Medicine at the University of St Andrews and Chief Scientist (Health) at the Scottish Government.

She does in fact advise a number of other governments around the world , she is American and doesn’t quite understand the wonderful world of Scottish politics but of course as your anti independence you have to discount her professional advice

her view on England not having a strategy on Covid except not over whelming the health system seems reasonable to many and not worse ?!
