sigesige00
The J-League (Japan Professional Football League) has begun this weekend. My hometown team Vissel Kobe struggled to survive in the top flight (J1) last year and secured a J1 place in the last game. Today Vissel Kobe won the 1st game (1-0) by an FK goal, after the visitors (Urawa Red Diamonds) were reduced to 10 men.
Jaggernaut
Just out of interest, does Vissel Kobe have many fans like this??: http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3602/3432354764_868412a380.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.flickr.com/photos/34882635%40N08/3432354764/&usg=__kCD3LlOb4KzMHE7D3d1Dyob2iOw=&h=500&w=333&sz=72&hl=en&start=2&zoom=1&itbs=1&tbnid=lSv82xlA8k-D_M:&tbnh=130&tbnw=87&prev=/images%3Fq%3DVissel%2BKobe%26hl%3Den%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:1&ei=oL9zTbH6KIK4hAf57-w1

sigesige00
The J-League games have been indefinitely postponed. Today we had a charity match in Kôbe. About 5000 gathered and donated money for the areas damaged.
sigesige00
Vissel are struggling. Yesterday's game was 0-1 defeat. There is no destructive power in the attacking. This season will be another relegation battle.

sigesige00
Just now Urawa Red Diamonds, Japan's most popular team, won the 33th game (34th is the last) and almost secured its survival in the top flight. (Even if Urawa lost the last game, the goal difference is large enough.)

sigesige00
Who is likely to be relegated? Yamagata and Hukuoka (Fukuoka) are already decided to be relegated; and Kôhu (Kofu) has a mathematical chance; but they would need at least 15 goals. sigesige00
Yamagata and Hukuoka (Fukuoka) are already decided to be relegated; and Kôhu (Kofu) has a mathematical chance; but they would need at least 15 goals. Kôhu's striker Mike Havenaar, born in Japan as a child of Dutch GK coach, is reportedly interested by several European clubs, including Celtic. He has scored 17 goals in this season, only second to Australia's Kennedy who has scored 19. However, Kennedy's scores includes PKs. So Havenaar is de facto top scorer. While I have no sympathy to Celtic, I'd be happy to see many East Asian players in Scotland.
sigesige00
J-League 2011 finished just now. The newly-promoted Kasiwa (Kashiwa) won the league. Kôhu (Kofu) were relegated. Mike Havenaar will move to Europe in January. I hope that he will play for West Bromwich Albion or Fulham.

McKennan
Siggie, I have a friend in the US who's agent for a couple of lads called Kiloran. They're Irish-Japanese brothers, by the way. Are you aware of them? Have you watched them?

McKennan
I'll take that as a 'no' then. My friend's agency is in Chicago; one of his agency partners is Japanese and he's looking after the lads. Your opinion on the brothers would have been very welcome; your crash course in geopolitics ... well, hang on to that.
Jaggernaut
Just for your good self; her name is Marina Oba, and she's the chief cheerleader of Vissel Kobe. She also does some clothes modelling. Type the name into google images.....
sigesige00
2 new clubs are admitted to the J2 from JFL (3rd tier). Now J1 has 18 clubs and J2 has 22 clubs. According to the J-League officials, J2's 42games is the limit, and promotion/ relegation between J2 and JFL will be introduced.
sigesige00
Just now Japan's Emperor's cup semi-finals finished. Both game were won by the 2nd Division teams (both away). We will see the final of two 2nd Division teams for the 1st time in history.
sigesige00
Just now FC Tokyo, the 2nd Division winners, won the Emperor's cup. By this FC Tokyo secured a place in the Asia Champions League next season.
Jaggernaut
It's interesting that in the Final they beat Kyoto Sanga, who are also in the 2nd division. How many games did those teams play to reach the Final? I don't think that a Scottish Cup Final has ever involved two lower-division teams. Blackpool Jags
Both won 4 games to reach to the final. Yes, I cannot imagine a Scottish Cup Final between Partick Thistle and Ross County. Why not? Ross County are good enough to reach the Scottish Cup Final, and actually beat us earlier in the season.

Are Ross County good enough to reach the final? Yes Dunfermline reached the final when they were relegated from the SPL. But it is very hard to imagine a Scottish Cup final between two SFL teams.
