Scott Fox was brilliant should have been "Man of the match". Really impressed tonight. Looking forward to the rest of the season.

16 points clear of Hearts, 1 point ahead of Celtic

He was BT Sport MOM

Very impressed, we played as well as some of our best games last season. Just gutted we couldn't find a winner, would've been f*cking epic. Other than to express my love for Scott Fox, I don't really have much more to add on what's already been said on the game. The encouraging thing is though that we can play as well as that whilst still to welcome Osbourne, Molina and Gabriel (amongst others) into the fold to see what they can do. I don't think I've ever seen a Thistle team with so much quality strength in depth. Hopefully we can get the striker in that can give us a bit of diversity up front to what we already have (easier said than done), then I'll be feeling very enthusiastic about our chances in the league.

One of the best nil nils I've ever been to.

I remember our 0-0 draw at home to Falkirk in the 90/91 as a belter of the game. Plenty of chances at both ends.

Unfortunately the replay was a bit of a downer in that we were 3-2 up in the last minute and didn't even manage to reach extra time!

Great game.

Welsh and Fraser were absolute stand outs. Two brilliant players, especially Welsh who breezed through the game.

Craigen is a real prospect, hard to believe he has got himself this good with only a handfull of pro football.

Balatoni didn't put a foot wrong, Muirhead absolute rock in defense (needs to cut out a few stupid mistakes with pass outs).

O'Donnell and Sinclair played well enough, got forward - need to watch they don't get caught out but ran themselves into the ground.

Lawless is definitely our touch of magic this year, can split open defenses and caused Utd to have two players on him at all times. Yes sometimes he got shoved off the ball but he gets given it in very tricky situations most of the time.

Doolan for all his work just doesn't cut it, not who we need spear-heading our front line. Thought Baird, as with pre-season, was far more effective and more involved when he came on. Doolan just never seems to get more than two touches at a time, where as Baird managed to win the ball and then play it.

Going into County game I'd go with the same formation but swap Doolan with Baird. Very confident with the season ahead if we can keep this up. Still crying out for that top striker though.

You were doing great there until I read the bit about Doolan.

Thought he worked tirelessly. I have no doubt that the goals will come for him if he keeps that workrate up.

As for my thoughts on the game, Welsh and Fraser (are we sure he's only 19 - what a prospect he is) were absolutely amazing. Osbourne is going to have to play well to displace either of those 2. Bannigan was his usual industrious self.

Defence was sound, ATS being the only (slight) weak link due to him being caught up the park on a few occasions. Fox was outstanding - his save from Dave the beast in the 1st half was sensational.

With a bit more luck (and a stronger referee), we'd have won by 2 clear goals.

Who the F*** is McNamara?

Impressive attendance for a Friday night televised game, hopefully the performance will keep most fans to come back and attract a few more along, credit to DU fans for their turnout and keeping nice and quiet, atmosphere overall was great but couldn't hear Notth Stand at City end of Jackie Husband, maybe time for a hearing test!

Well done all the lads tonight- great performance

Fox- superb

O,donnell- bit shy under orders to press on but great defensively

Sinclair- great- missed a bit of room he got last year - maturing with every game

Muirhead and Ballantino - solid as hell but caused ourselves as few of our own probs with the odd short misplaced pass.

Welsh- ready stepped up with the captains armband- outstanding - even when lost possession great saving tackles- my man of match

Brannigan- superb

Fraser- did great And superb prospect

Craigan- probably out of all players this is the biggest step up. Kept his head up despite difficult first half

And will only get better.

Lawless- one of best players in the park

Dolan- great control and holding ball up. Really needs to hit target with a few of the half chances that he did create the room for. Almost there.

superb performance from everyone, when I heard the team had Fraser and Cragsy in it I thought it was a big lightweight and we would struggle, although apart from Goodwillie ( who will score goals in this league) and GMS, DUTD have a very average team.

I was thinking at the game what the average age of the team was, noticed something on twitter that it was 21? when you think about our starting 11 none of them have had any top flight experience. subs:Forbes I think has had a game here or there and Baird with Dundee in the SPL.

unbelievable performance from these young boys. I thought Fox, Welsh, Muirhead, Balatoni and Fraser were top notch, Welsh is an unsung hero, with him and Fraser in holding midfield we are solid defensively but they can both pick a pass. who was this guy Paton that left us last year? he was pish tonight.

Ref was terrible as discussed elsewhere. Very impressed with tonight, absolutely delighted after that result.looking forward to a weekend chilling watching the scores come in tomorrow, hopefully Hearts will get gubbed aswell.

Proud to be a Jags fan.

I'm so proud of the fact that Archie resisted the opportunity to tinker with the title winning team and started with 10 of last season's stars and boy did they repay that faith!

We're very good in this country at talking down our footballers (and sometimes rightly so) but this Thistle team really are a positive force in the Scottish game at the moment.

well said Grant, so glad Archie showed faith in the team of last year. the positivity and rave reviews on the radio about the Jags team and by other fans of Ross county, Inverness, Hibs , Killie on twitter just show how good a team we've created.

I spent all game not knowing who number 22 was, he was ******* amazing, didn't put a foot wrong and did a lot of things well.

Great crowd, never expected anywhere near that.

Left the ground very pleased, the young teams clearly have the balls for this and we just bossed one of the better SPL teams.

What's Taylor-Sinclair all about?

Enjoyable game and atmosphere - Friday night football is the way forward as far as I'm concerned ;) .

Pretty sure we wouldn't have bettered 7,822 if the game had been played on a Saturday. Suits me fine - finish work, few pints, then taxi to Firhill - Saturday free to do what the wife wants.

Fixed it for you

Just watched the game (was shown live on US TV here in California). Great team performance. They really put everything on the line for each other. Neat passing and great close control. They all look fit also. No real failures, but we really lack a line leader in the mold of the King of Spain in his pomp. Don't think we need a target man, but do need someone with more guile. Craigen did will but I think Forbes adds something extra. Thought Baird also added a little extra cleverness, when he came on.

Don't see a space for Osbourne, Kerr or Shuggie in that team. For that matter El Boaby won't get a look in either. Hoping that Henoc and Simon can make an impact, though...

Thought it was a cracking match played at a high tempo. Butcher will never be as lucky again his 2 footed lunge at fraser was a straight red as was his 2 footed lunge in the box at bannigan not only was it a straight red he stopped bannigans shot with his arm and both these incidents happened right in front of the ref( has he been fast tracked from the juniors?) Sinclair was lucky to get away with his straight leg challenge in 2nd half. Both keepers pulled off some very good stops. Slack passing at the back gave them a few chances and if Goodwillie wasn't such a greedy sod we could easily have been punished. All in all it was a great team performance and we didn't look out of place against one of the so called better sides. Great travelling support from Utd but hardly heard them in the JHS. great start to our return to the big time----bring on the county

Watched it almost live the missus had it on live pause for me coming in from work..overall thought we were the better team..Sinclair will cause teams a lot of grief through the season with his runs..thought Elliot was quite strong and full of running when he came on especially against a tired united defence, Forbes also looked dangerous when he came on.

Didnt realise Baird was so wee!!

Thought BT Sports coverage was good..Neil Warnock seemed quite impressed with what he saw.

Canny wait to get to game whenever that may be!!

Bl**dy hell, we really went for it did we not? Confident in possession, great energy throughout, especially from ATS, SOD and Welshy. Fox was brilliant on demand – the guy’s a clean sheet specialist. Our young team answered all the questions asked of them. Thompson’s reputation takes a dunt after last night – two stone wall penalties missed as well as letting the Butcher of Dundee go free. The fud’s denied us 2 points…

Agree with all of that. Thompson had a good game with the exception of those penalty decisions and the failure to red card Butcher. The two-footed tackle in the box was a stone-waller and a straight red too. The club should make an official complaint to the SFA. As Thompson failed to penalise Butcher, can the SFA charge and ban him?
